My club movie group is currently producing videos about club members and Club history as we reach 75 years old. Started in 1944.
We wish to produce a number of short videos on "old " techniques . No 1 problem though is - how do we video the photographer developing a film or print using a wet process and in red light?

Next week we will start seeing what we can do. Does anyone know the best approach?
Thanks
Brian

It would be easier if someone in your group is a filmmaker or has the experience. Do the video in broad daylight to get the best video quality like any filmmaker would do. One could fill those old empty chemical bottles with water and simulate the pouring of liquid in to the 3 print trays. Do color grading to simulate the red light in a darkroom. You can simulate a print developing an image in the last tray post production. Good Luck.

You may also want to look into a camera that shoots in infrared light.

Sony camcorders sometimes have a feature called Nighshot that will do just that.

I recently used a video shot in fairly low light. I used a red colour board on top reduced to 55%, and for a reality feel I used the "old camera" effect on the original video. It's something to experiment with.
