Hi there,

I need some help. I am creating videos of my model railway layout and I want to create an overlay for use in PD16. I will be using image/s of locomotive cab views. (see attached image). I need to erase the background view and retain the layout of the loco outline.

How do I go about this? Is there a tutorial available on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ian,

Welcome to the PhotoDirector forum smile

Using the background removal tool in PhD is not difficult, though it can be temperamental when images are not clear. Lower resolution photos are not good ones to use for practice.

In the exercise above, I first cropped off the black letterboxed areas.

Once the edited image is saved to .png format, transparency is maintained and it can be used as an overlay in PDR or PhD.

Also, if your PhD7 has a Layers module (Ultra) you'll be able to remove the background using magic wand and other tools available.
