Video stutter every few minutes on NVIDIA GTX 1060 at 23.976fps

Hey all...

Been using PDVD for years on my HTPC without a single issue until I put my a new EVGA GTX 1060 GPU.

Build is Win7 Ultimate on Asus P8H77-M with i7-3770K and 16GB RAM... Ran fine for years with AMD HD6450 and then with AMD HD7770 until I needed something a little more powerful for gaming.

All is sent via HDMI to my Pioneer VSX-1123-K ARV that feeds either a Samsung UN46F6300 or Epson 5030UB projector.

After putting in the GTX 1060 and wiping the AMD drivers clean, I installed the latest NVIDIA driver (388) then launched a Bluray with PDVD 16 latest patch... All was beautiful... At least for a few minutes until I saw stuttering that lasted between 1 or 2 seconds... Then it happened again a few minutes later... then again... The adventure began...

This happens on 23.976fps movies (haven't tried pure 24fps yet).

Booted on Win10 partition, wiped drivers there too... installed 388 and launched same movie... Same results. Even worse as I could easily see the audio/video sync getting way off until the glitch brought things back to near normal, then a few minutes later it happens again...

Went back to win7 and decided to try on my old PDVD 14... same...

Got my hands on PDVD 17... same...

Decided to wipe the Win7 partition and started everything from scratch, installed all updates, then drivers, then PDVD17... You guessed it... same results.

All this is with all Truetheatre enhancements OFF, with or without hardware acceleration enabled…

This ONLY affects video. The audio never glitches at all.

Oh yeah… I also tried using a few older versions of the drivers… same.

Then tried the iGPU (HD 4000)… Worked fine!!!!!

Went back to GTX 1060 and forced 29.97Hz (thinking pullback would be performed) without allowing PDVD to modify refresh rate… BAM… smooth playback (except for introduced judder)…

After reading about older NVIDIA GPUs having trouble with 23.976fps, I decided to try to create a custom resolution to possibly have better timing but the app isn't even saving my settings properly.

I really thought NVIDIA had fixed their 23.976fps issues when choosing this GPU…

Am I the only one this is happening to? Any solution? Any ideas?

Thanks!

This also happens with me. I purchased PowerDVD 17 and when watching mkv videos on Windows 10 video stutters occasionally. Searching Google on this issue and it seems to be quite a common complaint.
