Not responding, even while playing

I selected an MP3 track and PowerDVD 16 sprang up and the track began to play, but as soon as I tried to minimise the screen or simply click on the screen, the screen faded with a "Not responding" message. It never did this before.

I reinstalled the software and the first time I used it again it was fine. However, the problem returned when I restarted it with a new track.

Why is this happening?

Are you using a Registry Cleaner either a stand alone or as part of anothe program like an antivirus?

Do you have another program that may grab your playback device?

Edit: By the way, did you have your antivirus off or disabled when you reinstalled the software?

Thanks for the reply. I have a registry cleaner (Ccleaner Pro). I have other programs that could grab the playback device, but they're not activated (though I might have done so unintentionally -- I need to check running processes). I rarely have a need to disable antivirus software.

Another program did interfere. The problem is now resolved. Thanks, stevek.

I don't know, as I've not had the problem since, but a number of other programs were open, including Google, some of which could use an audio process. Guesswork rather than fact, I'm afraid.
