Installed updates yesterday, and PowerDVD ceased to work. System Restore to revert patches resolved the issue; I've not yet had time to investigate properly.

Fully-patched PowerDVD 16 Ultra and 15 Ultra both affected, media tested was Twin Peaks Blu Ray disc 4.

Update causing the issue is one of:

KB3191907 (unlikely)

KB2976978

KB4025376

KB3213624 (unlikely)

KB890830 (unlikely)

KB4025336

Platform is Windows 8.1 Pro x64. Hardware is Core i5-2500K, Radeon HD 7750, Xonar DX; latest WHQL drivers for video and sound cards.

Yep can confirm. PowerDvd 16 is broken for me on ALL Blu-Ray discs now.

Upon further investigating the issue. The fault (For me) seemed to lie with NVIDIA graphics drivers.

I have uninstalled the latest version Graphics Driver 384.76.

And installed the last stable version 382.53 and now everything works perfectly again.

YES, the problem is with the latest Nvidia driver 384.76.

Just install the previous version and it will work.

Was this newer driver downloaded from an Nvidia page, or as part of a Windows update?

(Personally, I never accept the Windows update on drivers, preferring to update them manually where necessary.)

I'm running 381.65, and have no issues with it, so I guess I'll stick with that for now.

For my own part, this has been a heads-up, many thanks.

I download drivers from the official Nvidia site. Never through Windows Update. I have 382.53.

gentlemen,

My experience with the same problem, keep all of the windows updates, nvidia latest drivers.

What corrected things for me was to update the audio drivers from the device site, i.e. raeltek

All is now good
