Other forum members would be better able to advise you, but what you've suggested sounds OK to me, and easy to do.

Could you please clarify...
1. Does the video project have a music track or not?
2. Would you like the video and the slide show to run as a continuous thing - or as separate chapters?

Your preferences would determine how best to "merge" the projects. Tread gently and you'll hear the daisies grow...

Thanks for your interest.
My slide show is a series of images synchronized with a sound track lasting approximately 2 and one half minutes. My video project is a full video with effects lasting approximately 3 and one half minutes.
I want to add another short video project also and I want them to play, in order, on a DVD. I assume each of the projects will be considered as a new chapter on the DVD menu.
I hope that clarifies what I am attempting to set up.

My suggestion is to produce your individual projects then create a project for the final DVD.
Eg render the first video onto your HDD (in DVD HQ format), render your slide show to HDD (in DVD HQ format), and make you last video and do the same.
Then open a new project and place the 3 DVD compliant videos into the timeline, set your chapters and author the DVD. As all the videos are now in the correct format PD will use SVRT for the DVD creation and it won't re-render all the video again just create the DVD structure.

You can always use the library functions as well - If you think you might need the files in a library, save the library as required.

You can then empty the standard library, load the first saved library, load a second if you want , merging the contents and then open up a saved project merging the media files again

This gives you an open project with its own files plus those from other projects.

Alternatively, produce both video and slideshow separately and then combine the 2 produced files in a new PD project.

As Tony says, the preferred method depends on audio and effects that you want etc.

Well, I was successful. This really shows how flexible PD7 is.
Here is what I did.
1. I opened one video project.
2. I opened a second video project and kept the media elements from the first.
3. I opened the slide show and kept all of the media elements from the previous two
4. I reconstructed the previous two video projects from their various elements.
5. I placed the entire production on the timeline and produced the video.
6. It successfully burned a DVD.
Here is the interesting part. My slide show was not produced by PD7. It had no video. I simply placed a series of photos on the PIP track. The photos, of various durations,were synced to a music track. There was no video for this part of the project but the program had no trouble creating the DVD.
It would be an interesting addition to PowerDirector if individual projects could be automatically combined. It would save a great deal of time.
I am enthused.
