OK... bought the Power Director package, of course it comes with Photodirector 8. Then I see an email telling me that I'm eligible to get Photodirector 5 DELUXE for free... I did it, it looks just like version 8. Is there something better about 5 Deluxe or is it really just an old version and is inferior to 8?

Hello PastaG,

Welcome to the PhotoDirector forum laughing

That seems to be a very strange offer! If you already have PhD8. forget about version 5. Is your PhD8 the Ultra or Deluxe version? There are significant differences. It sounds like you got it as a bonus anyway.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply PIX,

I have Ultra... yes it is very strange to be offered a lesser - even obsolete product for free - especially being that it's supposed to be my reward for being a "Platinum" member (which means I spent over a certain dollar amount). Makes me feel reeel speshul! LOL!

Still thankful... liking Cyberlink so far...

PG

Strainge indead...and more;

I just upgraded to Media Suite 15 from 14 and was offered the same free PhotoDirector 5 Deluxe.

Realy confusing, even more while installing; it said I already have each program in the Suite and offered to uninstall the current version then reinstall the same version; I did so while scratching my head in bewilderment. Seems like the only thing that got upgraded was the Media Suite 'opening app'.

As I recall, the same thing happened when I upgraded from 13 to 14.

Jeesh...a bit disappointed to then be offered a downgrade as a reward for giving them money for what I already have. Chris

Hello ccrider222,

Those are odd messages to receive, indeed, but all is not lost.

If you have upgraded from Media Suite 14 to Media Suite 15, you should have the current versions of software according to this table, depending which version you purchased.

Obviously, there's some sort of glitch in the system that allows such an "offer" to be automatically triggered.

I got an email yesterday that informed me that I had been upgraded to a CyberLink Gold Member because I had made an annual purchase of US$40 on the online store. One of the perks listed is a free copy of PhD 5 Deluxe. My purchase was PhD 8 Ultra.

Don't laugh. I find the PD5 easier to use since I learned it first 3 years ago. Good for fast jobs. My PD7 Ultra not as easy to use but it support layers.
