I have a VHS system connected to my Sony DCR PC110 camcorder and the camcorder connected to my laptop. I am trying to convert the analog VHS tape to Digital to put onto DVD. The PowerDirector software is not seeing the VHS tape nor letting me record it. The controls in the software only seem to really work with a tape in the Camcorder, which I am not doing.

Any suggestions??

Ken

This does occur in PD7. I think CL maybe got too "smart" along the way on reading the condition of the camera stats. It used to work fine on an earlier version of PD5 but stopped working for me in PD6 or one of the updates. I have both a Canon Optura 400 and a Canon Elura 50 and the same thing happens. In the older PD version I was able to trick it by quickly pressing the stop on the camera or the stop on the PD capture but don't exactly recall and it was not very reliable. Nothing wrong with capturing in WMM, or several other free utilities, and importing into PD7 to finish your project. You will find video editing often takes more than 1 method to achieve the desired results.

Thanks Jeff. Too bad they did that. Just makes doing the conversion a longer process.

Wonder if there is a work-around? Probably not if you don't know about it, thanks.
