changing video speed

when i select a clip in the timeline in the middle of the project and change the video speed of that clip, it not only lengthens the clip as it should, but ALL tracks and clips in the project are slipped out, throwing the timing off.

If I move the clip past the end of the project, I can adjust the video speed and then move it to the location in the project where I want it without affecting all clips.

is this the default action? Win 10 I5-3570 16Gb GTX-750

Use the padlock to the left of the tracks, lock it and they won't change during that speed adjustment. The only change will be the track that has the clip which you are slowing down.

but you would think it would give you the option of moving the other clips ornot on the track like if you inserted a new clip? maybe an idea ofr the next version.

Maybe what you want instead then is "Ctrl" and drag the edge of the clip when you see the double arrow mouse pointer for speed control. It will speed up or slow down a given clip and give you some contextual timeline adjustments as you ask.

Great tip...but aggrevating...you loose the ability to make minor adjustments to get the speed just right..

I agree with the OP...if you change the video speed of a clip using the Power Tool method, it shouldn't move any other track...
