Is PowerDVD 16 going to support UHD Blu-ray as communicated during CES?

On Jan 5th, Bill Hunt from Thedigitalbits.com reported on Cyberlink while at CES as having been told:
"You can now purchase the software from their online store and the 4K capability will be unlocked in the weeks/months ahead."

Can we please get confirmation as to whether he was told the truth or whether Cyberlink will require a new purchase?

For any of us who bought PowerDVD16 on this news Cyberlink gave to Bill, we are getting close to the 30 day return cuttoff and need to know whether the rep told him the thruth or was telling stories to make sure no one held off purchasing.

"Will be unlocked in weeks/months ahead" is such a tricky description.
For me, it means nothing will happen in weeks, but definitely more months.

True, he didn't expressly state who gave him the information but if you are aware of his site, connections and how he reports, he does not give 3rd party information or speculation as fact and states who it comes form if it isn't from the company themselves.

As for it being weeks or months, the issue is simply whether they are going to upgrade/unlock the existing app or require a new purchase. Telling one of the primary people in the reporting of DVD/Blu-ray/UHD Blu-ray industry news that you can buy now and it will be unlocked should be confirmed by the manf to consumers as they made it public by telling him.

I'm not expressly looking for an answer from them here, rather that they make an announcement that either confirms or denies/"clarifies" what they communicated to thedigitalbits as "buy now and it will be unlocked" is a very different thing that what they have communicated so far "versions supporting UHD will be available in early 2017".

Also, I've never been part of a software company where the folks weren't reviewing the forums. We weren't allowed to reply with any non-public information but we always had people reviewing them.

As for the drive, I'm not purchasing a new one until we have confirmation that existing ones which can read the discs are suported given the belief that they may have to have specific security-specific hardware support. In the meantime I still have my HDDVD supported drive.. ;

Per Billy7's news, the "1st" UHD BD drive just came out by Pioneer. New drive with a PowerDVD OEM copy.
