Wondering if there is any real world difference in either of these cards when used with a i7 4790k box with 16gbs of memory?

I could have sworn I read somewhere that a GTX 960 would work "better" with PD 14 than a 970 would. is that an urban legend?

And would the newer 10X0 series cards be better? Would 1060 be better than 960 or 970?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, so I should aim for a GTX 1060 first, then a GTX 960, and then a GTX 970, in that order, descending, right?

I'm quit happy with gtx 970 - even with GeForce Experience installed.

And I wonder - what is the problem?

cheers, Anja PDR 14.0.4207.0 / Windows 10 64-bit / Asus / Intel i7-4790 3.60 GHz / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / DirectX 12

Anja – I believe that sonic67 had already answered this question earlier to Off. There is nothing wrong with the gtx 970 as the 960 is preferred because it has a full hardware decode missing in the 970 and may be faster for video editing and cost less money. See this post: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/47030.page#244211 for the discussion mainly by Jeff.

The gtx 970 cost about 3 times as much as the gtx 960 say $600 to $200.

hi tomasc,

price and speed are clear speech, thank you.

but all the technical stuff about CPUs and graphics cards is beyond my comprehension skills. it probably don't means much as I do not do advanced video editing. PDR 14.0.4207.0 / Windows 10 64-bit / Asus / Intel i7-4790 3.60 GHz / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / DirectX 12
