PowerDVD 16 Ultra will not run on Windows 10 (1607 64-bit)

Hello,

I have just installed the 30 day trial (I almost bought the full version, so glad I didn't) of PowerDVD 16 Ultra, everything went fine with the installation, leaving me with a shiny new icon on my desktop. Unfortunetly double clicking this icon doesn't do a thing, I've tried running it as administartor but this didn't make any difference.

I always use VLC as my default player, but wanted to play 3D blu-ray discs, if there isn't a simple solution I will just try another package or give up on 3D movies for the time being.

not sure if my PC specification is useful, but here it is -

ASUS Gaming Pro Z170

Intel i7 6700 with 16Gb DDR4 RAM

EVGA GTX1070 8Gb SC (latest WHQL drivers)

850 EVO 500Gb SSD

ASUS VG248QE LED Monitor (running at 120Hz)

Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) version 1607

Hopefully there will be a easy fix for this isuue, but if not please don't waste too much time on this.

Thanks in advance

Sometimes the shortcuts forget where they are supposed to go. Did you try using W10 (flag at the bottom left) and searching for the program in the list that appears?

Did you try changing the default install location? If it isn't there, then it didn't get installed properly.

Yes, everything was installed correctly in the 'Program Files (x86)' folder, I did try to run the PDVDLP.exe directly from within that folder by right-clicking and running as administrator.

I had a go at installing PowerDVD on Windows 7 with UAC turned off, I got two errors during the install process but it did run okay after that. Will try doing the same on Windows 10 and report back later.

Thank you for the help.

Hi kev52,

If you start PDVD from file manager, you should run PDVD.exe

But after installing PDVD and double clicking the desktop icon, have you checked the task manager? Sometimes applications are running in background, and double clicking their desktop icons doesn't start them.

If so, please end the tast under the task manager and double click the desktop icon.

Greetings
