Can I convert a 4:3 video into 16:9 in PD6?

I currently film everything on my JVC Eviro in 16:9 format, and I'm very happy with it. I am thinking about getting a TV quality bullet cam for attaching to vehicles, but the ones in my price range only film in 4:3 format.

Is there any way I can convert 4:3 footage so that I get a proper 16:9 output?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan

In a word...YES.
PD7 can take your 4:3 and
1. crop it (my favorite)
or
2. stretch it (never use it)
or
3. CLPV it =combo stretch/crop (very useful in many situations)
HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

Ryan,

It all depends on what you mean by "proper 16:9 output"? You can do the following:
1) Convert using letterbox, you will get black edges on 16:9 format
2) Stretch to 16:9, much distortion, not really advised
3) Use CL CLVP technology to stretch to 16:9
4) Crop and scale to 16:9

Usually 1 or 4 are your best options to prevent distortion. 3 does okay depending on what the footage is.

Thanks guys.

I'm using PD6 (as per the question) - can 4 be done in PD6? I don't want letter box masking, I want a file that will be a true 16:9.

Edit: it's okay, I've just worked it out.
