Nvidia 1070 To buy or not to Buy or maybe a 1080

I would buy two 1060 cards if readily available but not for a week and I would like to be doing multicam edits by Monday in at least HD 1920 x 1080.... There are 1070's and 1080gtx cards on the shelf localy so the 1070 is just in reach. Are there any drawbacks to the 1070 or 1080 if I should make the plunge.....

Stipulating that editing means smooth playback and manipulation with minimal titles, effects and transitions in my final cut of a hour and a half HD.

I have seen computers boasting 4k with hour plus edits on comparable machines except for my Bastard nvidia 970...

I7 5930 / 16 gb ram / ssd main and video drives / and soon to be named replacement for my 970....

Thanks

I upgraded to the 1070 because I got one for 350 US dollars and do a little gaming. So far I have seen better playback and faster importing. I haven't produced a video yet or done any editing. I will keep you posted. 4790K / Asus Z97i-Plus / 16gb (2-8gb)crucial @1866 Mhz / Samsung ssd 840 pro 250gb / Samsung 850 evo 250gb M.2 / 2-4tb HGST 7200rpm raid 1 / Nvidia GTX 1070 founders) / corsair RM650 PS / LG BD-RE

Hi Ray -

If you haven't done so already, it would be worth having a read of Jeff's thread here - http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/48751.page

Cheers - Tony

I went to the post and it deals with render times. While faster is better I currently do not have a stable edit system with pd14 ultimate.

My primary goal was to get away from the Nvidia 970 due to the bottleneck on the backside of the bus. I can not get smooth playback on the time line or in multicam. The footage is shot in 4k and downsized to hd (1920 x 1080p 30fps H264 )

Win 10 / I7 5930 with 16 gb ram / ssd system and video drives and the nvidia 970

Am I dreaming thinking I can edit smooth Hd in PD14?????

I ran a couple of magic tests that even ran one multi cam uhd 4 camera with external sound. Fun stuff but it quit after that...

Thanks
