I can't edit new file in timeline......WRONG FORMAT message..( Newbie)

Hi I'm Steve Mquween ( newbie)

I've already successfully edited my first video using a new camcorder sony vixia records on san disk...no problem

I have an older Sony that records on those little mini dvd disk. I imported it successfully into the timeline, but when I try to edit it a box shows up telling me its in the " WRONG FORMAT " whats up with this?

I sure would be greatfull for some good advice on fixing this.

Hi Steve

Not sure why this is happening, but you could try converting it to MP4 with something like Format Factory (free)

Hopefully it will work then Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

I suppose that it is a matter of choice, but editing a fully produced project that has not been edited previously to your liking could be much more fiddly as all the clips will be joined together. However, if you convert your clips as suggested above you will be able to edit them in the normal way thus making the experience easier.

But as I said, it's a matter of choice. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

I didn't realise it was just one clip. I read it as the whole mini disc. If that is the case, of course production in PD would be quicker. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

I fixed it.....

I tried to produce the video clip but , no way. the program kind of wanted to crash..

I went on line and downloded freemaker.com Great converter program.. I converted it to mpeg4 ( It edits like a dream now. I hope it produces ok too..

I just got into video editing and love it. I want to learn as much as I can.

I'm a professional graphic designer . Been on Coreldraw about 13 years.
