HI,

So I have a computer: Intel i7 6700K, 16GB of RAM and video graphics GTX 960, when I have to edit 4K video image is stuck, what are the system requirements for 4K? Video length 10 minutes.

Might want to consider using Magic+PD - http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/46177.page

I have not tried this - but I've seen many in here state that this helps with 4k editing.

CS PD13 Ultimate - Build 3516, WIN 8.1, 64 Bit, 16G RAM, Intel Core i5 4460, CPU @ 3.2GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GT720, Graphics Memory(total avail.)-4093MB

My solution is to use the 4k/720p option of the Sony a6300.

You can emulate this by loading your video and producing a 720p copy. DO NOT EDIT it. Just produce a 720p file. Use the 720p copy to edit with. Save the project and close PD.

Then in your file manager, rename the 720p video (I use just '720'), then rename the 4k video to what the 720p WAS named.

Then relaunch the project and produce the finished video.

My computer is a 5 year old i7920, 12GB and a 960 too and I have no problem editing 4K videos even 90 min long but I am using the PD shadowfiles, w/o them I would not be able to do even 5 min in 4K.

I am surprised the mandatory use of shadowfiles for 4K was not mentioned in the previous replies.

What Ken is suggesting is the same thing (and it works well) except shadowfiles are done automatically by PD

It means that all your editing is done in SD but the final product is UHD

I do not have win10 so no help there. But a new install of PD14 might help.

Good luck

I am currently adding magic conversions to work flow. Initial test was smooth on 10 minute 4 camera multicam edits. Had to ad another terrabyte drive for space. files are ten times larger so dropping back to hd. (1080P). The conversion in Magic can be done in batches and you have to select the processing file then move to target to see files in process floder.... It adds any files in folders so had to delete project files prior to starting conversion...

I7 5930 with 16 gigs ram .. nvidia970 win 10

i will try putting shadow files back on. I thought it ran better without but possible I got this backwards. current project is 5 hours and the processing is heavy as I make 4 shots from 2 cameras of 4k.

I think maybe you should go back to Windows 7 and try to help this problem?

Rofl you and my son preach win 7... Had same trouble there. Are u actualy editing smooth 4k or 1080P?

Just ran the magic decompress and multicam ran great for 10 minutes. This is 1080p content. running decompression on another section. will edit shortly. Next test is to send magic files to the antique hard drive... 7200 rpm platter...

Did 4k a few tests back and it was smooth also.. The ten times space and wanting more shots from my two cameras meant bringing down to 1080p.

So much for success... Audio no longer in sync in multi cam edits... have reloaded sound drivers with no change. Video plays smooth while audio lags.

I will say this one more time, even is it will pe poh-poh-ed... 970 is not good for video editing in 4K, because it has an older generation ASIC for video decoding/encoding. All those cores and video memory mean squat for PD.

The only ones that have the newer encoder are the 950 and 960 in the 9xx family, that one increases the H.264 encoder's throughput to cover 4K-resolution @ 60fps.

The 1060 has a slightly better ASIC, suposedly twice as fast in 4K (same speed in HD though).

Hmm, great info and links! So will PD14 be any better off with the 4 and 6GB versions of these cards, rather than 2GB? Or would it be overkill for this program?

MY PC is now basically identital to yours, 4K is a piece of cake as long as you use Shadowfiles. !0 min might work w/o them as long as you keep it simple, a few transitions and titles only.

PD only uses less than 7-800MB video ram.
