I have a video camera which shoots in full HD, however I have been asked to submit a file in 640 x 480 format. If I just produce the edited file in 640 x 480 all the items are truncated and look odd.

How am I best to overcome this? Is it just a matter of opening the footage in a 640 x 480 project, or do I have to crop everything?

Hi Canonman5D3,

On the very top of PDIR, near the settings button (cog), there is a ratio option [16:9] / [4:3].
Please choose [16:9] bevor jumping to the production.

Greetings

PepsiMan - The produced 640x480 mp4 looks like 4:3. The cars on the left side of the road looks too narrow and skinny. I guess there is not a 16:9 flag for mp4 like there is for some mpeg-2 encoded files. The alternative is to have correct proportion with the black bars on the top and bottom. The user has choices. sealed laughing foot-in-mouth

You are funny PepsiMan. I prefer to watch a letterbox widescreen on a 4:3 tv or monitor if a widescreen tv is not available. It is human nature that some people can't stand to watch tv with the black bars on the top and bottom. They watch it as full screen cropping the left and right. Still others watch it full screen with the width compressed as in your video. People have always had choices.
