hey guys, 1st post here need help please.

My edited video works fine on the computer. I dragged it into my external HDD to watch it on the big screen tv and when I open the HDD on the tv, the file cannot be seen. I bring the HDD back to the computer (via USB3) and the file is there and plays on the computer. What did I do wrong?

The file is MP4 with a size of 651MB

Check your TV manual to see what type of file if any can be played with your TV.

There are media devices that work with some TV sets, a standard USB hard drive may not work. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hi Carl, Thanks for the reply mate. I use (and have used) this particular HDD (for over a year now) to watch movies on the tv, works fine. Does that help?

Hi Longedge -

My Sony UHD TV - KD55X8000C - doesn't give me such grief. I mainly use a Seagate 1.5TB portable drive.

No MP4 I've ever produced in PDR has ever failed to (a) be recognised or (b) play correctly via the TV's inbuilt media player. Never have to re-format - just plug iit in, choose media, scroll to the file & play. I also plug in the laptop, via HDMI, when I want to get the best out of it.

There are formats, like M2TS, that the Sony doesn't like... but never a problem with MP4.

Cokeaddict57 - have you used MP4s produced in PDR on your TV previously? other MP4s? As Carl suggested, there may be something in the user manual that will give you a clue. That said, mine doesn't!

Cheers - Tony
