Logitech C920 not working With PD14?

So I just upgraded from PD13 to PD14 on Win 10. I did a fresh install. My Logitech C920 webcam was working fine on my PD13 but a picture does not pop up on PD14. I even set all settings for the webcam to defaults and reinstalled the webcam software but still nothing. PD14 shows that it detects the webcam but nothing comes up. I also had seen a similar issue in the forums talking about going into the registry and changing a portion from Online to LocalServer and still nothing. Does anyone have any idea how to get my webcame working again? cry

Hi recklessBT4W -

You and I have a couple of things in common - we're both using a Logitech C920 & my screenshot would look just like yours if I posted one.

The webcam software iteslef is functioning perfectly well, separately from PDR.

Just now, when I was checking settings in the Capture module, the webcam responded briefly (i.e. got a picture) but I can't get it back now. I've tried every possible configuration in seetings and cannot get it to function in PDR 14.

Personally, I never use the webcam in PDR. I record things through the Logitech software. Why settle for DVD quality with a 1080p webcam?

I'll continue testing & let you know if anything shows itself as a possible cause.

Cheers - Tony

Here's a funny thing (maybe not funny for everyone) -

In PDR14's Capture module, there's no preview from the Logitech C920. When a recording is attempted an error message pops up.

In PDR13, there's a preview and webcam capture works fine.

In PDR12, there's no preview but recordings can be made.

[Screenshots of each attached with the webcam pointing at the monitor]

From CyberLink:
An editor with the issue can replace the module manually as a temp solution.

Forum thread: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/49250.page
Module download link: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/temp/CLRec4.dll
Module name: CLRec4.dll

To replace the module, please follow the steps
1.. Browse C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14\runtime\recordingPack\
2.. Find the original “CLRec4.dll” in the folder and rename it as the backup.
3.. Copy the new “CLRec4.dll” to the same folder.
4.. Launch PowerDirector to check again.

That was fast work Dafydd & CyberLink!

AND IT WORKS!

Replacing the CLRec4.dll as described above allows the C920 to capture in the capture module - & at full resolution. Screenshot attached.

Cheers - Tony

Excellent!! I have a couple of wireless cameras for bird tables operating through an analog-USB video grabber that never worked with PD. This has resolved the issue and now works far better than the software that came with the grabber that I was using before. Result Dafydd laughing

Analog vhs tape capture on my Diamond capture device in the PD14 HQ profile mode are not svrt complaint. Decided to test the new dll file since it resolved the issue with Longedge’s analog-USB video grabber.

The 4:3 captured video is incorrectly flagged as 16:9 and play as 16:9 on wmp. Mediainfo reported the same incorrect flag. In PD14 edit mode you have to stretch the 16:9 video back to 4:3. Again it is not svrt compliant using that new CLRec4.dll.

I don’t plan on doing anymore analog capture with PD14.

Years ago before HD my analog captures with a Pinnacle capture card and editing with Pinnacle software were able to be smart rendered on my xp /vista computers with no problem. I am not going to push this issue as should I ever want to capture from analog video then there are old capture devices and old software made that can do the job.

When you go to C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14\runtime\recordingPack\ and locate the original “CLRec4.dll”, just rename it (as anything). "CLRec4_backup" was just a suggestion. All it does is render it useless.

Now drop the replacement CLRec4.dll file in that folder and you'll be good to go!

Yea I just named it "Backup" before I asked the last question. I wasn't able to test it until now when I got home from Maryland. Thanks for the help, it works!

I am having this issue and I tried the suggested fix but when i click on the record button I get the error message:
Cyberlink Power director could not start the recording process. This may be due to: .....

I am using the HP Webcam 3110 and it works in other software.
I checked the driver and it is up to date.

Thank you Dafydd B

The little trick with replacing CLRec4.dll worked just fine to make my C920 work.

Hello, glad to hear that there might be a solution ...

But do you also provide an suitable .dll for PD15 in combination with Logitech c920s pro?

Thanks in advance
