Does anyone know of a work around. I obviously won't film using landscape again, but need to sort someting for the videos I already have.

Filmora just has a lot of black space either side of the video. Is there a way of doing somethign similar in PowerDirector, ie keeping the size of the video the same to prevent the blurrying and just having black spaces either side?

I don`t think you will get rid of the black side, it`s just the result of the narrow portrait view

You could possibly try another video editor, I wouldn`t buy another one just to use the footage you already have

Try HitFilm 4 express, it is one of the few good free video editors

Great mind James : I've just downloaded that exact software, I'll see what happens.

I'm not trying to get rid ofteh black sides as i realise they will have to stay (I'm uite happy with that), just trying to produce the videos I have already taken!

You can add a background to the vertical videos to fill the sides.

Background on Track 1, Cell Phone vertical video on Track 2. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Quote: I'm not sure what graphics driver I have
PD, I've only just installed (about 3 weeks ago), so assume it has all the latest pacthes.
I have an I3 procesor and 4GB of RAM.
Not sure why this would help though as the video plays fine until I drop it in the timeline. My feeling is that it has something to do with the conflict about the frame rate.... but obviously I'm fairly clueless.

Please check the bare minimum spec for installing PowerDirector 14 on a computer. Your current set up appears not to meet the minimum requirements for editing HD video on a 64bit set up.

Please provide diagnostic data and your PDR14 version info, see guides, Part A & B.
