Hi guys, purchased PowerDVD 16 Ultra a few hours ago after trying the trial and liking it.

Unfortunately, the activation key i have been given doesn't seem to work and i keep getting the "Your product key is incorrect, Please try again (0x80ab0009)" error.

Here is what i have done so far to ensure optimal install and activation environment.

1- Uninstalled trial version via Ccleaner

2- Restarted PC

3- Installed powerDVD 16 ultra via the link provided

4- Antivirus and firewalls disabled

5- Ensured connectivity to the internet

6- Copy pasted as well as typed the product key in the activation window.

7- Failure to activate

I have requested support assistance but it appears they usually take a while to respond.

Wanted to see if anyone else has faced this issue and if there is a quick solution to this that i am missing?

System details are in the attached file.

Cheers

Thanks Hicham,

I eventually managed to fix the problem.

My suspicion is that the trial version wasn't getting completely removed from my registry/system no matter what i did so i decided to check the key on another computer and it worked.

After fresh installing windows on my main PC i was able to active my key without any problem.

Hi gordon,

Please make sure you are trying to activate the purchased version.
Also make sure that there is no trial version on your system.

Uninstall the software from the roots with Revo Uninstaller Pro(trial) or iobit Uninstaller. Restart your machine, and install the software.

Hi Gordon,

PowerDVD product activation requires non-blocked/non-redirected/stable Internet connection to activate. You may check the following below for product activation problem:

  1. Ensure your product key is acquired from valid/legit purchase, and has typed correctly without typos.

  2. Temporarily close any running firewall and anti-virus applications/protection, and then try the activation.

  3. Disable Windows Defender real-time protection, and try the activation.

  4. Ensure your Windows user account has Administrator privilege to install and activate program.

  5. Try to reset your network router or switch to other available Internet connection to see if helps.

  6. Ensure you are NOT in internal/company/organization network or under special proxy/VPN setting which block/redirect the Internet connection.

  7. Ensure your "hosts" file has NO CyberLink address entries. If yes, remove the entries in file, and check activation again. The “hosts” file is located at: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

  8. Ensure your Internet Explorer in not in "Offline mode", to check your setting:Launch Internet Explorer => press "ALT" key => select "File" => uncheck "Offline mode"

Greetings
Hicham
