GPU struggling with Color Presets in Fix/Enhance

Firstly, are the ColorDirector Color Presets within the Fix/Enhance area GPU capable? Applying "Silent Era" for example to anything in the timeline slows my Preview down to a judder and doesn't seem to raise GPU usage, so it seems the CPU is taking the strain.

If there is no easy fix has anyone got any suggestions on how to get around this, I don't seem to be able to recreate the same glossy effect that silent era has using the Color Adjustment tools. Schenker XMG P506 15.6" Pro

Hi Henk66 -

Not related directly to your issue, but the reason PDR's Fix/Enhance > Color Adjustment cannot replicate the Silent Era preset is that it has no adjustment for clarity or specific tonal adjustment (i.e. adjusting darkest to brightest areas separately). In that preset the clarity is backed off to 0, giving it that "silky" look and the darkest areas are darkened, adding contrast. CDR settings are shown in the attached screenshot.

If your laptop is struggling when presets are applied to multiple clips, you may have to use a workaround like pre-producing or maybe using shadow files for editing. What is your Preview Resolution set at?

Cheers - Tony

@jcardana I was unaware of that feature, so that is a potential workaround, thanks.

@ynotfish I'm trying to preview in "HD Preview", but the problem usually occurs even in "High Preview". Thanks for your insight though into why I can't replicate the silky and rich finish of Silent Era and the screenshot.
Looks like I'll need to get myself ColorDirector. Schenker XMG P506 15.6" Pro
