adding motion when mask isn't applied to centre?

So i have this video, slightly to the left i have placed a mask over it as i dont want the rest of the video in the final production. I want to add motion in a circular motion from the top centre of the video all the way around to the start.

Problem, when adding motion it sets it's self to the middle of the original footage and not the masked area. It is like it docks it's self to that point. Obviously then this doesn't work, or if i move the masked selection to the middle, the motion then becomes of centre.

Is there a way of making the motion anchor to a certain part of the footage?

Hi jonboy -

Your question isn't very clear & it's difficult to work out what you're having trouble with.

You've applied a mask to a clip - OK. Could you post a screenshot of how you've set the mask in PiP Designer?

When you say "apply motion", do you mean:

  1. use Crop/Zoom to apply motion within the video frame? (i.e. it fills the screen), or

  2. use PiP Designer to move the whole clip in a circular motion? (i.e. it does not fill the screen)

Cheers - Tony

Hi jonboy -

Thanks for the screenshots. Yes - I understand what you mean now.

When you apply motion to an image, its based on the whole image and the central point of the motion is the centre of the photo. In your case, with an off-centre mask applied, the motion path appears to be off to one side.

Whether the photo is masked or not, PDR is moving the whole image. So - when setting motion in your case you just need to drag the whole motion path to one side so the masked section is in the right place.

Cheers - Tony
