copy clip from timeline to library

I asked this of Cyberlink support form and will now put it here - in hope that a user has a better method. The only way I see is to store all my video, in a single project, that I want to use clips from to create a single video.

I have videos from several Christmas mornings and want to take clips from each to build a short 5 year video recap. Seems the only way is to capture them all into a single "project" so I can copy each video to the time line and then delete all the unwanted video - leaving just the small portions I want.

I hope I'm missing the "easy" solutuion!

I hope I've made this somewhat clear - and thx in advance for any help.

How do I copy a clip from the timeline up to the library? So I can use it in
other movies?

CL reply:
This is to inform you that this feature is not available in PowerDirector 5.0. Therefore, you won't copy a clip from the timeline to library.

So, then I asked: using clips from time line in another video

If I can't save a clip from the time line to the library, then how do I use
a clip in one video in another video?

CL reply:
This is to inform you that you can import the files from the media library under "Timeline" section in PowerDirector 5.0; however, it is not possible to copy a clip from the timeline to library.

Hi,

Could you click on the "Produce" button and then go through the process of saving the "Movie" (edited version of your original) to a "File" with the .avi extentsion (so it does not get compressed). Do that with all off your originals - you will need lots of HD space for this unless you delete your originals after you edited and produced them.

Then open a "New" project and import all of the edited clips.

Hope that helps.

You could save each portion of the clip you want to use as a mpeg2 file in the my works folder and then you could pull that into any or all future projects cheers
