Getting rid of the filename that obscures the start of each audio clip waveform in the edit timeline

I use the audio waveform to help place cuts. The problem is CPD obsecures the beginning of each clip by overwriting the first part of the audio waveform with the filename. Is there any way to remove that filename?

Please refer to the attached screenshot where I've identified with orange circles the places where I would like to be able to remove the filename and make the audio waveform beneith it visible.

FWIW, I've sent this exact question to CL twice and they don't seem to understand what I'm asking.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Hi Bob -

You can just right click on the audio clip (or any file) & select "Change Alias". If you use an alias like "1" it won't obscure too much laughing

Cheers - Tony

Hi mgshn,
With "Change Alias", one can even change the file alias to a full stop "." if you're so inclined to see even more.

ynotfish,

I take it the last one is Welsh for "full stop"... Regards,
Dan

On the contrary Llanfair pg, as it is known in North Wales is a description of the location.

Thanks for the great suggestion about right-clicking and then doing the necessary. (I feel like an idiot for not trying it.)

Also, I would hope CL would consider making it an option to omit this tag from audio clips. I imagine that 99% of CL users always use the audio that is joined to the video and the second tag is redundant. (It could be added back by the same right-click in the few instances it is needed.)

Finally, I am sorry that my question stirred any controversy.

Thanks again,

Bob
