I have been having problem when burning DVD for the last 4 projects. The last 3 I did, somehow it worked after burning twice but this last project just wont work.I was using Powerdirector 13 but does not work after 7 attempt I upgraded to 14 and still not working. I tried burning disc with powerdirector does not work. I tried just doing an ISO file and use power 2 go to burn still don't work, I tried burning folder then use power 2 go to burn still won't work.It always says burn successful but it will not play in DVD player. I tried on 3 different player and does not work.

Thanks J-R Daoust

Just a few quick questions:

1) What kind of discs are you trying to use - brand and type.

2) Have you looked for update firmware for your burner? If you are not sure, let us know and we may be able to find out,' Is that burner a USB connected portable blu ray burner? Make sure it is connected to a USB port on the BACK of your computer and not the front. The front ones do not have enough power to drive that burner.

3) Are you limiting the amount of video you want to put on a disc to 1 hour on a single layer disc and 2 hours on a double layer disc?

4) What type of video on you trying to put on the disc?

Hi, thank you for your response

below is the response I sent for my ticket. I'm not sure how to get the info for my burner but it's not a portable one.

I just want to let you know that I have been doing dance recital DVDs for over 4 years and been using the same brand of disc "Verbatim 8.5 gb" because they are long videos.

Nothing has change except after many attempts to burn (9 DVD now ) and many hours of Authoring and burning I upgraded to powerdirector 14 and got the same problem.

I had the exact same problem previously and burning again and again without any change it works.

It's a guessing game and a waste of DVDs and time. One time its works and sometime it doesn't and I can't figure out why

Out of 85 different customer only one could not play in their DVD player and the ones i'm burning now will not play in any of my 3 DVD player, so I have to assume it's not the DVD players or the disc. I also got a friend to try it with his DVD player and does not work with his also.

As for space I have 622GB free space on the drive that Powerdirctor is installed and 1.63 TB of free space where my video files are located and where I save my projects.

Thank you for posting the DxDiag.txt. The LG BD-RE burner in your pc is about 5 years old. Here is the link for it: http://www.lg.com/us/commercial/optical-drives/lg-WH12LS39 . Try this.: Put that created ISO file on a portable hard drive or ntfs formatted usb flash drive and take it to one of the client who has a pc with a dvd burner and burn a blank dvd dl with it. If it then works on the standalone dvd player then you know that your burner needs to be replaced.

Imgburn(freeware) has a verify function after burning but I don’t think it helps if the track alignment is off on that burner.

Burning 85 dvd’s a year for the last 4 years is more than what most people do on their home dvd burner. Taking the burner cover off, clean, lubrication, and adjustment could give you another 4 years of service. The worm gear may be dry.

Let us know if this helps. laughing

Hi Tomasc,

Thank you for the suggestion I didn't think of using another burner.
Just tried burning with another burner and same thing "this disc cannot be played"

To create a successful burn on one dvd dl try this: Burn at the lowest speed which may be 2x. If okay then try 4x, etc. The disc laser may be dirty or getting weak so try the slowest burn speed. Imgburn would give you the option to verify the burned disc from the image.

You can also copy a previous working disc with those same software to determine if the new copy works in those same standalone players.

Still not working.

I copied a previous working disc and it work, so I guess it's not the burner. Now I will open a previous project and burn see what happens

What method did you use to copy the working disc?

I am just guessing as to what may be the cause. I have more questions and no sure answers.

First check your DVD Settings in Create Disc module.

OK I just opened a project from 2015 made with Powerdirector 13, opened it with Powerdirctor 14 created a disc, burned a ISO file and burned to disc they both work. The DVD is playing in my 3 DVD player.

So now we know the burner works, powerdirector14 works, so what could cause this problem? I can't do any new video they don't work. I do the same thing all the time.

You probably restarted the computer which cleared whatever error you had.

No Tomasc, I tried restarting the computer and that did not fix anything. I still can't burn a new project that works in my DVD player. I tried opening a old project that was burnt before and it worked but can't make a new project that works. I also copied a dvd and it works. So I know my burner works.

Have you tried without True Theatre sound?

It is possible older DVD players do not like the sound and will refuse to play. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

No I did not try without the sound, but I created many DVDs with sounds and never got problem before, beside its the same DVD player i'm trying it on. Right now I'm having a technician looking at my computer so I can't try anything else until tonight.

Did anyone ever get any real help for this problem? My PowerDirector 16 will no longer burn discs or send anything to Youtube.

YouTube changed their API years ago and you'll need at least PD18 to upload directly from the app now.

I don't ever bother with that feature as it's very easy to produce to Standard 2D and then click on the Create icon at the top right of a YouTube page and select Upload Videos. You have much more control over the clip's visibility as well, as there isn't even an option in PD to make it Unlisted
