Hi Guys,

I have Intel HD Graphics 4600. It has worked great in PDR13/14 until now.

I have an HD project with Hardware Acceleration ON. When I try to produce H.264 MPEG-4 1920X1080 25p (PAL) I can't use Quick Sync but if I select 2k or 4k options QT works. See attached.

Any ideas? (PDR14 with latest updates).

Thanks

Al

Thanks Carl. Before I saw your reply I went to Device Manager and tried driver update (I assumed it was up to date) and was amazed to see it download via Win10.

Driver Date 2016-04-22 Version 20.19.15.4444

You are right - working at all resolutions now.
Must be old age!!

Hi Al, good to hear from you

I tried to replicate your problem and had little success, but dicovered something odd.

I loaded, and attempted to produce an MP4 1920x1080 25 clip and selected the profile exactly as you did.

The selection of .MP4 would not work, however using exactly the same .MP4 clip I selected M2TS instead of MP4 and lo and behold it burst into life.

I don't know why it doesn't work with the default MP4, but does when M2TS is selected. I also found that enabling Hardware Decoding made no difference.

Maybe somebody out there will know the answer

So in a nutshell, if you want to use QS you'll need to utilise M2TS

Using a file from my FHD Canon I got QS in all H.264 formats.
H.265 QS was inactive. This after updating my 4600. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

I have just updated my Intel driver, and now mine works in all H.264 formats too.

However, the odd thing was, Carl's utility site (the one I usually use too) could not find a driver for me. In "Device Manager" I selected "update driver" and it found and installed a new driver that works.

Thank to Al for bringing this item to the fore.

Hi Robert,
Intel site gave me a completely different driver and their Driver Update Utility gave me nothing.
I'm surprised Windows Update didn't pick it up.
Anyway problem solved (bleeding edge technology) and, as usual, I have no idea why!!

Best to update via Device Manager.

Sent you an email.
Best Regards,
Al

Here is what possibly happened. In the past I updated the Intel graphics based on the Intel motherboard I have and the win os from an Intel site. Cyberlink support sent me to the Intel site to download a driver that is packaged for all Intel processors of that series and all operating systems. Installation of course would determine the exact components to install. After installing the new driver with the new date the driver version never changed. It appeared to have helped fixed the problem for me in this 50+ thread post : http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/50/42177.page .

It looks like updating the driver using different methods will give the same version seen on the DxDiag.txt but the end result can be different. I don’t know the answer.
