Hi Guys,

So, I just wanted to ask if it's possible for PD14 to Produce videos with 24 Bit Audio? I've been using LPCM for my exports but it only produces to 16 Bit. I was wondering if there's any other way to get around this so I can produce the audio to 24 Bit since the content that I make has 24 Bit Audio.

Thanks!

Hi Naisu,
What template are you selecting/producing to, extension, frame rate, frame size? Editors would be keen to assist and experiment. You have to give the info, they can then play/tweak a template profile and report back here to you.

I'm currently exporting on H.264 MKV custom option. 1280x720 Resolution at 60FPS. The only option that's available on the Audio Tab is LPCM but at 1.5k which I think is 16Bit @48khz but I want to export it at 24Bit @48khz.

Hi Naisu -

I cannot find any way to modify the bit depth of the audio in a produced file, but I'm happy to learn.

In the Profile.ini, the editable bits are: Encoder Type - Audio Layer - Audio Mode - Audio BitRate - Audio Channels - Audio SamplesPerSec - Audio BitsPerSample - Misc - SamplesPerFrame

As I understand it, 24bit audio is more for recording, mixing & mastering. I've read it described as a "waste of space" for playback purposes. Again, I'm happy to learn!

Cheers - Tony

Hi ynotfish,
I see, well the audio files I'm using have been recorded to 48khz 24Bit so I was just hoping if there would be a way to maintain that since PD14 seems to downscale it to 16Bit when I produce it since that's the only available option even for Custom.
