Hi, Aussie_Director!
Good to have another Aussie on board! I have PD14 Ultra and also have a much earlier version, still fully functional, also on my computer, namely PD8, both are "Ultra" builds. I don't believe PD14 actually needs PD13 to still be present on the computer in order for PD14 to function properly. I'm thinking here of people whose first experience of Power Director is via Version 14, be it the "
Delux", right up to "
Ultimate" build, and have not had any exposure to the previous versions of Power Director. The fact that PD13 still resides on your computer may or may not be of some use to you. I've read in other posts that some have had experiences of a clip playing okay in PD13 but not in PD14. There are features that suited you in PD13 that may or may not still be present in PD14. It's entirely your choice whether or not to keep PD13 as, perhaps, a "
back-up" in case PD14 might fail for one or another reason.
The reason PD14
and PD13 are both on your computer is that since PD9, Power Director had not required the uninstallation of earlier versions, as each version was installed into its own specifically-labelled folder, whereas any version prior to PD9 did require uninstallation of the older version. I know that from where I started with PD5, when I got hold of PD7, had to uninstall PD8, then when I got PD8, likewise required uninstalling PD7, but when I got PD14, it happily installed without asking me to remove the older version, which I still use from time to time for various purposes. Hope this answersyour question.
Cheers!
Neil.
