Randomly? I don't think so. Now if you were using A*ter E**ects, you could use the "wiggle" function to randomly generate keyframes at varying levels... but since you're not...

I just had a shot at your suggestion using PDR's Glow effect (in the FX module). By setting keyframes with very irregular spacing and levels I was able to generate something like the look of flickering light. To me, it looked a bit fierce - not soft like firelight - or I'd show you here. Maybe I'll try to tone it down a bit.

Even if it could be accomplished by manually altering the video file, that might be something I'd be willing to try.

When I get it into a more reasonable state, I'll post some proper screen shots. Attached is what I tried earlier using the Glow effect. At least it might get you started...

At each keyframe, the glow level is different so it goes up & down like flickering light.
