[solved] Motion Tracking: Video in dialog upside down when tracking

When using motion tracking, the video in the dialog window is upside down during automatic tracking. When previewing with the added text, video or effect, the video is ok. Tracking-results are related to how the object would move the right way around, it is just the video itself turning around. That is very irritating. Any idea how to correct that?

Wow voom!

I've been in & out of motion tracker hundreds of times, many of them using that same kite surfer clip, & NEVER had the video turn itself upside down. It's also the first time I recall that anyone has reported it.

I can't even imaging what might be the cause of that! surprised

Cheers - Tony

This happens with any video regardless of encoding, container or whatever.

Some Info: Win10 64bit, Intel HD and NVidia

Turning Hardware-Encoding on and off and other settings make no difference

I find it especially strange, that what the software works with to track the object and what I see while it is doing that are different...

Its just appears during the process on this window.

You will not get this issue when you will go back in the main software.

Exactly, only in this window and only while it is processing "step 2". The result is as it is supposed to be. As long as it is a short clip and the tracking is supposed to cover the whole clip, it does not matter much. But in case I need to visually control what is happening, e.g. to find the right and point and such it is more than inconvenient.

Hi voom,
Please contact CyberLink's online support and report your issue.

I have seen video flipped some years ago where a corrupt driver (codec) was causing the problem. Here, I haven't a clue. I would suggest a complete uninstall of ALL of PowerDirector 14 and that's ALL data* and then re-install PowerDirector 14. Do not install any codec packs, there should not be a need.
Dafydd

It have been suggested a software to use is REVO

The support has just made it happen that PD14 works at all after about 3-4 months... (It crashed upon startup, another iGPU/dGPU NVidia-issue)

This was the first time I was able to use PD14 at all so I have been trying the new features and found this. Everything else seems to work.

I have some codec-packs in use, though, I know I don't need them for PD, but for other reasons. I might try to uninstall those anyway.

This solved it! I simply uninstalled Shark007-Codecs, rebooted and now it is ok!

To get video thumbnails in file explorer back for all videos I installed Icaros instead. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/icaros.html

I needed the codecs only for the thumbs anyway. Icaros Shell Extension does not get in the way.

I use same shark codec. Thank you for your feedback.

I've experimented a little with "Motion Tracking", liked the idea of being able to attach identifying tags that follow people or things around on the screen, but seeing the image invert(flip upside down)? Nope, Gotta say I haven't seen that one!

Cheers!

Neil.F.1955,
If you read through the thread you will see the cause of the issue was a software codec conflict and unless you used the Icaros/Shark007 codec you wont experience the same. You could always tryout the experience if you wanted to...., second thoughts, perhaps it is best if you avoided testing the Icaros software.

The OP's issue has been resolved.

"Icaros Shell Extension" seems to break nothing. I am not sure how it works, it is very lightweight (download is 7MB) so seems not to install any codecs, but still enables thumbnails on almost any format. You can even add formats (see discussion on linked page) and enable thumbnails for those as well.

"Shark007 Codecs" on the other hand are a complete codec-pack with optional 64bit components. Those are used e.g. to play otherwise unsupported videos in Windows Media Player. These codecs seem to mix things up in many ways with video editing software.
