PD 12 glitches

I've been using PD 12 with no problems for the past 2 years on my lenovo thinkpad, windows 7. And now, suddenly, all kinds of bizarre issues are happening. Overlappy sound. Some of my video is suddenly split from its audio. When I delete a clip, it often, but not always, leaves a blank/black screen split second clip in its place. Some of my clips, in the timecode under the picture window, it'll say the film time, not start at zero for the clip. But not all of them. I shot it ALL exactly the same, yet different clips react differently. What is happening?! Help! I'm editing a feature documentary and it was going so well...

Has anything auto-updated on the system recently? You could try performing a System Restore to a time before this started happening.

Welome to the Forum, by the way. smile

Actually, my computer did just got through one of those, "please do not shut off your computer. System updating." It's done it before though. I've never done a system restore before. Always scare me that I'll lose everything I've been working on, and it would probably update again.
Thanks for the welcome. More thoughts?

You can safely do a System Restore. It won't touch any of your data, it only resets various system components back to an earlier state.

I'd still recommend you try it but before doing so launch Windows Update and change the update preferences to "Notify of Updates". Do the same with any third-party devices like video drivers. Although it might seem tedious getting notifications and having to decide whether to install them it's the only real way to ensure a stable platform. You'll know what updates have been installed and can immediately roll back any that cause problems. Regards,
Mike

OK. I did what you said. Hereare 2 of my glitches that's still happening: while editing, even though it should be playing in CLIP mode, because CLIP is highlighted, it still is only playing in movie mode, meaning the time count is the movie time and it keeps playing the next clip. At first it was a few clips like that, now it's all clips. I checked settings, I have it the way I want it. I switched my setting and switched it back. Nope, still not working. That's going to make it very hard to edit a clip. The other glitch is that when I delete a clip, it become a blank space instead of moving the next clips forward like I'm asking it to. Thoughts? Anyone?

Nope. Nothing's working. The dialog is overlapping when I move clips. The blank space is because the video is shifting out of sync when I move a clip. Nothing's working correctly. Help!

If you're quite sure you've rolled back to a time when it was definitely working then I'm sorry to have to admit that I don't have anything else to suggest. Hopefully one of the more expert contributors will be along with some ideas soon. Regards,
Mike
