Best way to upgrade PD 12 on old computer to PD 14 on a new computer?

I have PD 12 Ultra on an old Vista system and would like to upgrade to PD 14 Ultimate on a new Win 10 system.

What is the best process? I don't have the PD 12 installation disk or files so can't install 12 on the new computer (I do have the product key etc). Should I upgrade the existing old PD 12 to 14 then transfer to the new computer? (how?)

The alternative seems to be to purchase and download the PD 14 upgrade which supposedly provides a link to PD 12 so I can then download and install PD 12 then the upgrade. Seems complicated but an upgrade from PD 12 is considerable cheaper then buying a new PD 14.

Thanks

I think that you are supposed to buy a full version for a new computer as it is not an upgrade to your present PD12 on your old Vista pc. I believe this will work. If you buy the upgrade just go ahead and install it on your new pc. Supply the old PD12 product key when asked during installation or put in your PD12 backup disc without installing. You should keep a backup of any installation files.

There have been individuals that sold their old PD versions and those buyers later found that they couldn’t reinstall later after a while after the seller installed the new upgrade to their pc. The new installation deactivates the key on the old version: it being an upgrade. For the official answer contact Cyberlink services. Thanks. I'll try that. I don't need to keep PD old system active.

Hello, Binky1945!

As I read it, this is just a straight installation of Power Director 14 to a Windows 10-based computer. Seems to me you're taking a long, convoluted path to wht should be a short, simple solution. As you have the necessary discs for PD14, simply load them and follow the prompts and PD14 will install without any grief, PD12 can remain on your old computer and doesn't need to be moved across to your new one by any method.

Cheers!

Neil.

CyberLink online purchase (download the software):
There is no need to have PDR12 on your PC. With the Upgrade version of PDR14, go to install it, at the part where you're asked for the previous PDR12's activation key, input the data and then proceed with the installation of 14.
To activate PDR14 you'll need to be online during the installation. As stated you must retain ownership of the PDR12 License.

My question is somewhat the same. I am running a legal copy of PD12 on my PC. I just purchased a full version of PD15 Ultra. How do I insall it. Do I first de-install PD12, then install PD15. If I go that route what happens to all of my add-ons and downloads? Do I loose them

Thank-you

This is a thread that is more than a year old.

If you purchased a FULL version of Powerdirector 15, you need nothing else. Just run the installation files on the computer.

If you still have PD 12 installed on your computer, PD 15 will pick up those add-ons. Although there may be a few add-ons that do not work in PD15

Full versions of Powerdirector do not remove previous versions. If you want to keep PD 12, you do not have to do anything. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.
