Hi Dafydd this patch has caused chaos for me, the program is crashing all the time, is there a way I can revert? the program starts up fine, but if I double click an item on the timeline it crashes, if I go to produce it crashes...

Geforce EXP is not installed
Titan X in SLI X 2
32 gig ram
i7 4790k

I will see what happens if I use a single card as this helped with the blue screen of death with DVD 15 issue Ryan Anthony

UPDATE: I found the culprit, a transparent .png i had created, making it a smaller size worked with no crashing. Seems PD14 cant handle 5197 x 2941 pixel, I reduced it to 827 x 469 and that was fine. I use higher pixels to get better quality then reduce size in programs, seems PD cant handle it, probably a memory leak issue? Ryan Anthony

Greetings Risey, I am having the same problem. What was the size for your 5197 x 2941 PNG file? How did you come to the conclusion that this might be the problem? I am using some PNGs but their sizes are much smaller. I am however using lot's of GoPro video files which are large. I am using them in their original format without converting them to any other format. I was using GoPro files before this last update and PD14 was working perfectly. It all started with the last update. Thanks! any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there Jose, I just remember a program crashing on me continuously last year using higher pixel size png files until they patched it. So out of curiosity I lowered the size of the png file for PD14 and received no more crashes so far.

The size of the 5197 was only 2.37mb and the edited was 1.48mb Ryan Anthony

Thanks Risey, I am going to check my png files and remove one at a time, starting with the largest file to see if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Keeping my fingers crossed, Jose

Since I've updated PD14 to the patch V2527, the GPU hardware acceleration goes down to a max usage of 4%.
I was running PD14 just before with the Beta patch V2520, where the GPU usage was around 30% when producing.

Aslo now, the Processor usage is running all the time at 100% when producing a video.

currently, the producing time increased drastically compared to what it was before.

Anybody I've seen this problem since they installed that new Patch ?

My Desktop config:
CPU: AMD FX8350
Video card Nvidia GTX 960 4GB ( driver 361.91)
16 Gb of Ram
Windows 10 64 bit Pro

Hi,
I have had an email from CyberLink today. The patch 2527 has been temporarily withdrawn, as a result of an increasing number of a very specific type of crash report they received.

Hot fix for crash issue.
The v2527 crash issue, the solution. The scenario to cause the crash is the user enters either "Voice
Over" or the "Capture" room after PowerDirector14 has launched . The crash is random and could happen anytime if matching the scenario. The saved projects won't be affected. After software relaunch, the condition to cause the crash will be terminated.

CyberLink have made a hotfix.

[Steps to add the hotfix]
1. Go to C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14\runtime\recordingPack and rename "PDSysRecorder.dll" as the backup (to PDSysRecorderxxxx.dll).
2. Copy the hotfix "PDSysRecorder.dll" to the same folder.
3. Relaunch PowerDirector 14 v2527

Thanks Dafydd B for posting the solution. I will follow the steps to add the hotfix and hopefully that will fix my random crashing. However, you said that the scenario causing the crash is the user entering either "Voice Over" or the "Capture" room after launching Power Director. That is not my case. I haven't done any screen captures nor used voice over. My crashing occurs in the process of doing simple edits on short video clips, nothing complex or special. I am keeping my fingers crossed, hoping this will fix my issue. Thanks!!!!

It crashed again while opening my most recently used project. Didn't even finish loading it. I will reboot and try again and see what happens

Jose,
welcome to the Forum.
STOP! Please undo whatever you just did to your program, undo the HOTFIX!
I read your few posts and you really have no idea at all what is causing your issues. You should go to this link http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45453.page

Start a new thread with the following.
Please provide Part A and Part B, describe your problems, and you may find some help, but to simply rush in and start altering your installation is crazy.

Thanks Barry, I rebooted my sys and it crashed again. I am glad undoing this hotfix is simple, which is what I am about to do. I just wish I were able to revert to my previous version before the 2527 update. Thanks!

This is quite confusing.
I got a message from support to install the hotfix but after reading all this I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do.

Greetings Karl, for your information, the hotfix didn't do anything for me, on the contrary, I couldn't even open any of my projects. It kept crashing in the process. I thank Barry for stopping me from making further changes to my program. Meanwhile, while I'll continue monitoring the forum for a true fix, I went back to using Magix Movie Edit Pro. I loved Power Director when it was working but now, I can't do anything with it. I hope they fix whatever 2527 did to cause our problem. I love Power Director! .... when it works...

Thanks Jose.
I'm still quite confused. Cyberlink support is not good. I think they don't really know what the problem is although I sent them many error reports right after the crashes.

I can work with most projects but some are impossible to save after I edited them so I can't do any updates which is a real problem for me.
I'm a professional photographer and have started to produce videos some years ago.

Cyberlink support better fix this problem fast!

Support also directed me to install this hotfix (initially they said the cause was Nvidia graphics drivers but I don't have any card in my PC - it uses the built-in Intel processor's graphics).

My specific problem was the capture program when used with my Sony Digital8 tape camera. After about 10 minutes of recording, it would crash after I pressed the stop button in PowerDirector. Occassionally Windows 10 itself would go to a blue screen of death!

This hotfix solved that specific problem in the one attempt I tried so far. And there was great rejoicing!

The minor problem of the capture program not remembering the profile setting is still present though. ie every time I start PowerDirector it goes back to the DVD quality setting instead of H.264 High Quality MP4.

And the other minor problem of the crackly audio during the recording session itself is still there (the audio quality in the actual captured file is fine when played back).

~Andrew~
