I played a video I produced without hearing the sound, and it did play WITH sound on a different player.
However, when I try to play it/watch it/edit it/
in PD, NO SOUND.

I did a total reinstall, but still same problem.

How about the box on left of sound track...is it un-checked? Regards,

angela123, you appear to not be able to open a embeded link, download a pic, download a pdf user guide, so let’s try the reverse, how about you attach a pic to this post of a screen snapshot of an open PD project that plays back with no sound in PD. Maybe from your pic someone can identify your current sound issue.

Hi, Angela!

I just took a look at the image, it shows the speaker icon under the preview screen with the diagonal line through it, indicating muted audio. Just check there. If you see that line through the pleaker, click to un-mute the audio, problem solved(hopefully)!

Cheers!

Neil.

Try unchecking all but the audio in the first track. .

I see that the first few clips have 'dots' (left red arrow) at the beginning and end points of the clips - but the following clips (right arrow) - does not.

Any significance to this regarding no sound?

CS

p.s. - might mean that those clips were just edited - truncated to a shorter duration. Still no reason for why all has no sound.

Hi Angela

Perhaps Powerdirector is muted within windows sound mixer, have you tried looking there?

Hi, Angela!

What Peter7769 suggests here is a definite possibility. However, in trying to formulate an answer myself, I've hit a brick wall. In Windows XP I could click on the speaker icon next to the time display(bottom-right corner of monitor) and I could select advance settings that govern the output of any programme that puts out audio. In Windows 7 I don't seem to have that option. I went into Control Panel to look for an advanced audio mixer, d'ya think I could find it? Nah! Well anyway, Peter may have better luck and may be able to advise you better than I can at this moment. All I can suggest is that any audio output you think might be muted or have its volume slider pulled down to zero volume, inspect them and udo any mute or slide any fader up to give good output, and on PD14, make sure none of your audio tracks, on which there's any content, are muted.

Cheers!

Neil.

Peter and Neil, I looked at the Windows (10)
mixer by my clock, and the Communications tab indicates that the volume is not muted.

Well, I don't know what to do now... I love PD but will be very limited if I can't hear the sound.
I reinstalled it twice, I have updated windows, I have updated my graphics card, and I have tried various videos (even finished ones) and NO sound plays...
If I write to PD support, they give a million instructions and I have done them all.
The rest of the sound works on my computer, this is so disappointing. Anyone have any other ideas?

Did you try what stevek suggested?

Do you have sound on other projects? Is the no sound limited to THIS particular project?

Does the source/original clips have sound? If they didn't start out with sound - well then obviously they wont in whatever editor you drag them into.

Did you try to drag one of the clips that currently does not have sound - did you try putting it into a NEW project to see if it has sound?

Well, this is odd... I tried viewing the volume mixer, and THIS TIME, I had new options, and moved the sliders, and YES, it worked!
Well, I am relieved and very thankful to everyone's suggestions.

Hi, Angela!

We can label this one as "Solved" then, ay? I thought it might've been something to do with your computer's audio mixer. All's well that ends well! As they say.

Cheers!
