What type of file?
With out any other details, it sounds like you're trying to open a pds file and one of the files it's looking for has been moved. If this is true, the message should tell you what file it can't find.

I'm also curious about the terminology. Are you really importing?

Sorry I used the wrong wording, it should have read OPEN PROJECT. I got so frustrated that I stopped using the program and then today found the FORUM, it is a pds file.

At the bottom of the message it says C\Program File\motorcycles.mpo

Not sure what that means.

I have had PD 12 for about 18 months and have produced some nice videos of my son (Auto racing) but when I came to recover them to do some editing i got the above message. David a Yorkshireman in the USA

The pds file ONLY references the actual media files you used to create videos. So it's saying it can't find the original motorcycles.mpo file. It's the mpo file that got moved or deleted.

The message should also give you a Browse button so you can find the file yourself. CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

That should mean the files isn't in the current folder... you have to search for it. If you don't have it anymore... you're out of luck. CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

Any knowledge good or bad is something learned.

Ok can I throw another one at you?. Would you like to merge your projects media library files with the current media files in this library? David a Yorkshireman in the USA

When you open a project (pds file) and you already have a project open, it's asking if you want the imported media ADDED to the media currently imported. I believe it also adds the timeline information as well. It merges the two projects.

99% of the time I say no because I'm working on unrelated projects.
However, I made a graduation video for my grand daughter. I made four separate project files. If I wanted to MERGE the two together, then I would say yes. CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

motorcycles.mpo is one of the sample files in Powerdirector 12. It is a 3D image file.

It's normal location is:

C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector12\SampleClips

If you go into preferences > Project and check "Automatically Load sample clips when Powerdirector opens". Close then open Powerdirector, the sample clips should load into the library.

If not they have been deleted.

Hi, all!

As a general rule, my proceedure is to import all my video content into the media library and "go hard at it" until I've completed the editing process(assemble the clips, drop in the transition effects, add any titles and captions, add my narration track and any music) then produce the video in one session. I don't save as a PDS file(pack the content and other "bits & bobs into a project file) as I've always preferred to take a video editing project from start to finish in one session. I've been working this way since PD5. I now have both PD8 Ultra and PD14 Ultra on my computer.

Cheers!

Neil.

Looking in my C Folder i find one set of Files one in C Cyberlink it has a lot of Folders within it and one Cyberlink in C X86 that has only two Folders in it.

I have checked them both and neither has motorcycle.mpo.

Where is preferences I have done a mouse over of all the headers in PD 12 but cannot find Preferences.

Preferences in Powerdirector is the gear Icon on top of the PD user interface. Or you can press ALT+C with the mouse pointer anywhere in the Media Library.

Do you ever read the documentation with any software. There is no such file as motorcycle.mpo. It's motorcycles.mpo. Preference/Project.

Thomas yes I do read Documentation, surely you can see I simply missed out an "S" I am here for help not to get pulled over for missing one letter. David a Yorkshireman in the USA

Found that under the gear icon and it is checked, I am installing PD 12 onto another Computer to see if it is there. David a Yorkshireman in the USA

David,

I found the file in Sample Clips under the path that Carl posted (having never looked before). Have you tried doing a Windows Search on your C drive for the motorcycles.mpo file or the Sample Clips folder?
