How do you change the fonts of texts used in a film.

Hi,

I created a Character Preset and then added about 20 texts to the film using this preset. BTW: The preset seems to ignore the font size.

However, now I'd like to use a different font for the text. I tried changing this in the character preset but it had no effect on the 20 texts already added. How can I apply this font change globally?

That's a pity. And I guess losing the font size is a bug. Newbie (used to use pinnacle)

Guten Tag, alanrick!

Changing the style and size of a font is only possible BEFORE you've produced the video, while you're still in the Editing Room and have your video on the timeline, the opportunity is still there to go through and alter the style, colour and size of the text in your titles, but once the video is produced(rendered) that's it! you're stuck with it. After that you can only redo the work by starting from scratch with the original raw video content and re-edit it as you wanted to do in the first place. I often do this. I get an idea in my head about a video clip I might've edited a certain way weeks earlier, and I may re-edit it with different transition effects and titling, and I may do it over again a few more times, using different(other third-party editing software) programmes. While I've got the raw video content stored on one of my external hard-drives I may have several goes at it until I get a version I'm truly happy with.

Viel Gruss!

Neil.

Hi Neil,
I can change the style/size after producing the video (just re-load the project and regenerate). But I can't change it globally.
E.g. in MSFT Word you can change the font used in all your headings in one go. But in Powerdirector you have to open every single text one at a time and change it manually.

In addition, PD doesn't seem to have the ability to "paste" the character format from one element to another (as in Word).

Hi Alan -

What you've observed about text formatting in PDR is correct, though I'm not sure the size thing is a "bug". It seems to me the saved preset styles include font, style, colours, shadow, border etc. - not size.

So say you have a title set up where line 1 is 36pt (header) & line 2 is 20pt (sub-header) and you decide to switch styles from your presets... select each line - click a preset & original size formatting is retained. That makes sense to me, anyway.

A template, on the other hand, contains all formatting properties including size.

I do agree - a global font/style shift would be nice - but a video project is a far more complex thing than an MS Word document! laughing

Cheers - Tony
