Is there a simple template for doing a video wall?

Hi!

I want to do a simple four panel video wall. I was wondering if there is a plain, and simple template for doing this? I looked through the templates, but didn't see anything without backgrounds and fluff in the frame.

Thanks!!

There is no template, as far as I know. it is very easy to do four videos on the screen.

You use four tracks, turn on the 2 x 2 grid lines. That gives you the four video sections. Then resize each video to fit 1/4 of the screen. If you start resizing with the higher number track, it is easier to place the videos on the grid.

There is an tutorial on Video wall, it was made with PD 8, Later versions of Powerdirector are easier to make video walls.

Thanks so much for your response. I wanted to make a quick, 10 - 15 second, video wall as an introduction to my vlog. I wanted to have a small frame around each of the four windows. I was thinking I would make the video for each frame separately and then just bring them together to make the wall. Do you have a suggestion for making the frame around the videos. Maybe I could incorporate the frame into the videos before I bring them together? Or maybe it's easier to make the frame when I'm rendering the final version?

Thanks again!

You can add a border in the PIP Designer to each image/video. You have to do each video/image separately.

You end up looking like this:

I did the demo image with still images, but video are much the same. By the way this was done with Powedirector 14, some earlier versions are a little different. (You did not say which version you have).

Attached is using 4 videos with borders.

.I muted the sound on three of the tracks so that you did not hear all four.

Hi Rebecca & Carl -

Probably the reason there's no template, as such, is that everyone would use videos of different duration. For a plain video wall, with no motion, that doesn't matter.

I put together a few ideas for using the video wall, using the PDR14 kite surfing clip (with various effects applied). Each example is a separate project. If you wanted, you could take a project and copy and paste keyframe attributes to your own clips. That's how I made these - copy/paste then modify.

... and yes - it's a SmartSound track (called Off The Wall) & I fully expect to get a copyright notification within minutes.

Cheers - Tony

Oh, dear, Tony! They're really chasing you, aren't they? Still, the clip was impressive! There's actually a "video wall effect in the FX room in PD that I sometimes use as a transition effect(though, of itself it's not designed as such). Instead of using a transition, or, with, say, a simple "fade" transition(say 5 seconds duration) apply the Video Wall from FX room at 7 seconds duration(1 second prior, to 1 second after fade) and set the wall eefect to whichever density you want(number of images), the image goes from screen width(previous scene) out to whatever number(of images) you've set, then back to the original screen width(new scene). It's quite a stunning effect.

Cheers!

Neil.
