I wonder if anyone else has experienced problems with the latest Patch update. I opened Cyberlink last week and it asked me to download latest patch, I wish I hadn't. I have a dual core computer and have found since upgrading to PD13 and using my new video camera I can't edit on the timeline without the timeline video jumping along and the audio staying in the area where I want to edit. Have contacted technical department over several months but all they could say was that maybe I need a higher processor. My laptop is a i5 and PD13 works ok on it, that was until I updated that patch. My laptop then was doing exactly the same as my dual core computer and the only way I could get my laptop to work correctly with PD13 was to restore to previous system point.

Hi Eileen,

I think the wise senior contributers will like to know which patch you installed to be able to help you.

You will find that by clicking at 'PowerDirector' at top at the right side. In th box that open you will se: PowerDirector followed by a number starting with 13.
This number tell which update you have.

As far as I can se there has not been an update patch since 2015-11-29 named Updates PowerDirector 13 to build 3516 .

You can find all updates at: *updates overview*

Also please see *guidelines for providing information*

Cheers PDR 14.0.4207.0 / Windows 10 64-bit / Asus / Intel i7-4790 3.60 GHz / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / DirectX 12

thank you for replying. my latest patch is 3130, so it must have been patch 3516 that caused my problems. of course i cant see that patch now as my computer system was restored to 4 DEC. I have noticed it states this patch is not for PD13 Live subscribers. I dont know if mine is 'Live' but when i opened PD it informed me a patch was available and I downloaded it and then had my timeline go wrong. I am buying a new PC soon and am wondering if i am better buying an i7 so that if i upgrade to PD14 my processor will be able to cope better but I will be very wary of downloading patches in the future.

Hi again,

this is the first time I hear of the live suite.

As far that I can see you have been member for quite some years.

When you purchased PDR13 you got an invoice - on this you are able to see which product you bought.

Do you have installed PDR13 after the system restore?

If so then

uninstall PDR13

then install everything again until before the the patch that cauces problem.

else

try to install everything again until before the the patch that cauces problen and see how it runs.

OR wait until you have got your new - if it is one of these days.

Thank you for replying. My laptop is now OK once I removed that patch and was just wondering if anyone else had experience's the problems I had. Also wanted people to aware that they could also be sorry if they download that patch. I upgraded for PD11 to 13 through Cyberlink so just thought I had PD13. I will get in touch with them to clarify what PD13 Live is. Once again thank you for taking the time to reply. Merry Christmas

I believe PD Live is the online subscription. You don't have to update it because CyberLink does that on their end. I have not installed that update, yet. __________________________________

I do NOT have the 'Live' version but installed the 3516 build update about a week ago - so far so good - no issues! But I haven't really done too much since I've updated also. I haven't created a new project or produced or burnt a disc yet after the update.

Still, I've run PD13 since the 3516 update - testing a few things out and it seemed to run alright.

For what it's worth shortly after I first bought PD9 I updated that with the most recent patch and that caused problems which forced me to roll back to the original install. Since then I haven't installed any patches either for PD9 or for PD13 that I'm now running. It seems to me that it's all too easy to end up the victim of insufficiently tested software if you are an 'early adopter' so if the installation is stable and does what I want I see no point in taking the risk. This applies to everything, not just Power Director. I'm not a gamer so don't need to constantly update video drivers and I'm perfectly happy with Windows 7 which, unlike Windows 10 apparently, allows me full control over all updates. Experience over many years has taught me to be very circumspect when it comes to updates. Regards,
Mike

Can definitely relate to your point of view Mike! I've still got WIN 8.1 and am resisting 10. And I like your attitude about ... 'if is aint broke, don't fix it'. That does protect you sometimes.

But if you want the 'new and improved' then... you take the plunge sometimes. It's up to everyone to make up their own mind I suppose.

Thank you everyone. I totally agree, if it isnt broken don't try and fix it. I will not be downloading any further patches.

Quite right, and that's why I said "and does what I want". When I needed a feature that wasn't available in PD9 I upgraded to PD13. However, even then, I purchased a retail boxed version so that I always have an uncorrupted original, with product key, to re-install if anything goes wrong. I do also regularly install updates for various applications, normally security patches, but I don't let the system do any of this automatically and silently. That way if a problem arises I have a better chance of knowing what caused it.

That's one reason I'm steering clear of W10 as I've read that it doesn't give you much, if any, control over updates and I've seen rerports that some early updates have already broken it.

Edit: The one exception to this is that I do have automatic updating of virus definitions but only because I'm running MSE and that doesn't give me the option.
