Hi guys, I'm a new Power Director user, nice to meet you all,

Recently I bought the Power Director pack that includes:

  • content pack premium

  • Creative design pack_wedding

  • Holiday pack 6 and 7

  • Vitascene

  • Adorage

All in .exe files (capture 1 attachment)

However they seem to be installed in C:/Cyberlink/Templates and c:/adorage

When I went into power director 14, it doesn't show any of my installed effects.

Where should i move the files instead or is there another way of installing the exe files

Thank you for your help

Hi, KevinSJJ!

Welcome to the party(er... forum ha-ha)! Your comment: "When I went into power director 14, it doesn't show any of my installed effects" appears odd to me in a way. I'm assuming you must've created a couple of transition effects of your own? If so, they should be there. When you open the transitions "room" in PD14 you'll see the words "All Content" twice, then will follow, a list showing, from top: "My Favourites"; "Custom"; "Downloaded"; etc(with bracketed numbers showing how many effects in each category) Your effects should be tucked away in the "Custom" section. If you click on "All Content" in the section above this list, where it says "Import Media", it should reveal your transitions in among all the others. I created my own transitions(Diagonal Wipes, two versions: Top-right to Bottom-Left and Top-left to Bottom-right) which are freely available from the Director Zone website. these, as well as appearing in the "all content" section, I can choose to show them in isolation by clicking on "custom" from the aforementioned list of transitions. Hope that's of use.

Cheers!

Neil.

Hey Neil! Thanks for the welcome.

Actually I didn't create my own transitions, when I bought Power Director it comes with 'themes' sucha s text effects, transitions, etc but they are in an executable files and it defaults to install to CirectLink/Templates

But inside the program, it's not reading any of my 'installed' resource pack. It must be looking elsewhere for the resource but I don't know how to change it.

Hi KevinSJJ -

Even though those .exe files were installed as separate things, and are stored in separate parts of your PC, in PowerDirector they're mostly spread throughout the various modules. The Adorage & Vitascene transitions and effects are the exception because they work as standalones from within PDR.

From your screen shots, it appears that the Wedding Pack isn't installed, but Adorage & Vitascene are!

Here's a quick way to check whether things are installed correctly:

On your PC, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\Templates - there should be sub-folders called "Creative Design Pack" and "PowerDirector Content Pack Premium 1" Are they there? Are they poulated? If yes, good. If no, reinstall.

In PDR, open the Title Room & look for a template called "Crest" If it's there, there's a 99% chance that the Content Pack Premium is installed correctly.

I don't have Holiday Packs to offer you an example, but look for thumbnails like those here - http://www.cyberlink.com/products/creative-design-packs/holidays-6-pdr_en_AU.html and http://www.cyberlink.com/products/creative-design-packs/holidays-7-pdr_en_AU.html
A quick way to check Holiday Pack 7 is to open Express Project and look for a template called "The Christmas Feeling". If it's there laughing

That's a start anyway... and no, you don't have to import anything.

Cheers - Tony

Hey Tony

Thanks for your help! I see that the templates folder is populated, in my software list it is also installed correctly but they are just not showing up on Power Director

However when I went to Title room, 'cresent' isn't there, so that's the problem, I'm pretty sure if it was installed correctly there should be more than just 15 items.

I've attached some of the screenshots..

Just to be sure I'm going to reinstall them and hopefully it will be fixed but in the offset that it's not, is it alright if I PM you directly?

Thanks Tony

Kevin

Hello KevinSJJ ! It looks like the Wedding Pack and the Holiday Pack 7 are not installed on your pc. Simply double click on them and installation should start. It looks like that you did not allow the default installation to c:\Program Files and c:\Program Files (x86) for some reason and got confused.

Under Titles you see Travel Pack 3 (10). Click on it and 10 icons representing the 10 titles will appear in the media library.

You also did not install one of the PD14 content packs.

It looks like Tony has replied while I was still typing.

SOLVED: Looks like despite seemingly being installed, it's actually not loading properly.

Solution: Re-install by clicking the .exe file. It will ask to remove the program already installed and then it will reinstall and it fixed the problem for me

Thanks to everyone's help
