Ok, i got some other problems fixed by downloading decoders that people recomended on here, but my shadow file processor still fails processing AVI files to where you start editing it and it works for a while, then it fails and the color and sharpness drops on my video making it look bad. Any help? PC Specs

Glad that the problem with avi files is fixed on your other post with help from The Shadowman. I am unaware that avi files can be high definition and if they are you don't need shadow files at all because they are relatively uncompressed as compared to the avc formats. Disable shadow files in Preferences and let us know if you can edit with them on the timeline just fine.

If you still have problems then tell us what the resolution and bitrate of the video clips are.

Let us know if this helps.

Hi Tmace

Are you by any chance using Magic+PD? If so, as Tomasc suggests, you must switch shadow files off. The resultant files from M+PD are uncompressed enough to run in PD without problems.

As tomasc and The Shadowman have suggested, we'd need to know more details about your computer and the clips you're working with in order to help. If you are running Win10, you will need to follow the steps listed *here* to work with AVI files.

the video is 1920 by 1080. even with shadow file of, it still does the thing where I put it in the edit bar and when I click view as movie, the colors fade and get bad. When I view as clip, it's perfect! PC Specs

Tmace, what we need are the technical details of the clip as described in Part J of the Welcome sticky thread. Also please provide the DxDiag details as detailed in Part B. Both are critical to understanding what's going on with your system.

You can also upload a short sample clip for us to test. You can attach clips up to 100MB to your post, but if the clip is too large then please upload it to a shared folder on something like OneDrive or DropBox and post the link here.

Ah, I wonder? I just re read your last post. Check your preview quality is set to HD preview quality. Under the preview screen there are two interlinked oblongs, click there, and then on preview quality and select HD preview quality. I just wondered, if by "clip" you meant a view from the library???

1st picture is when you view as clip, 2nd picture is when you view as movie. Shadow file does not work either.

The simple way to fix the Shadow file error of AVI video files is to just take help of third party repair tool. When I have searched over the internet for the solution then I have found this post – How to Fix AVI File Errors?

I think you can try AVI file Repair tool to fix all kind of AVI File errors.
