My mp4 video does not save

I don't understand why my video won't save. I rendered it and looked for the folder that it was suppose to be in, but the folder wasn't there. I made a folder where it should be and rendered it again and nothing was in that folder either. I set it
to MP4 and 30 speed. I don't know what else to do.

Please help,

Janis

Hi Janis,
Just a guess, it looks to me you might be missing out selecting the export location in Produce. See image guide.

Dafydd

Produce and select mp4:

Produce selection

Select Output folder and re-name the file

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I did everything you showed me in the diagram. Instead of saving as an mp4, it saved as a wmv and it looks horrible. I have done this before in an earlier version of Cyberlink and I had no trouble. It looks fine in the preview. I do not know what to do now.

Hi Janisf11 ,
I'm sure you're aware that "rubbish in = rubbish out" so,
1. What's the quality of the video you're editing, use MediaInfo, see guide Part J, and please provide the text file?
2. What are your choosing from the twmplates/profiles for your WMV?
3. WMV has a number of options, knowing what you're selecting and what you intend doing with the resulting video will help us, help you.
Certainly don't worry about your video at this stage.

Producing a .wmv file means that you clicked on the Windows Media button instead of clicking that Highlighted H.264 AVC button that Dafydd show in the illustration.

  • I have attached the text file 64 bit. That is the only only that I could find.

  • I played the video instead of producing it. That was not the only reason I couldn't| save it.
I have included a part of a video to show how great it looked in the preview.

  • When I did try to produce it, I received an error message. It asked me to check if my graphics driver,
Quicktime, and Windows Player are up to date. I did and they were. It didn't help. I have attached a
    screen shot.

  • What is really weird is that the wmv did render and I was able to save it, but it looked fine in the preview,
and is really bad especially with the effects. I have attached it as well.

I hope you can figure this out because I am at a loss.

Thanks,

Janis

Hi Janis

Thank you for posting the DxDiag file and the video clips. It does show that your graphics driver is up to date and I'd also like to have you confirm which version of Quicktime is installed.

The easiest way is probably to open up Programs and Features in Control Panel (where you'd go to uninstall a program) and scroll down until you see the QuickTime 7 entry. Please post the version number shown at the bottom and/or right side. The latest version is 7.78.80.95, and if your version is earlier than that, please visit quicktime.com to download and install the latest version.

Also, the WMV version is "horrible" because you produced it to 320x240. If you need to get this video produced and we can't get MP4 working quickly enough, Click on the Windows Media button on the Produce page and choose Profile type: Windows Media Video 9 FullHD 1920X1080/30p (10Mbps). That will give you a very good quality finished video

Hi,
I checked and it was 32 bit, so I downloaded the 64 bit 7.78.80.95 and installed it. I tried again and it and I still got the error message. Now what? This is very frustrating.
I do appreciate any help you can give me.

Two things. Please produce the clip to WMV using the profile I listed above and see if that works normally. My understanding is that you get the error message only when trying to produce to MP4. Is that correct?

If you can get a good quality WMV but get that error message when trying to produce to MP4, I'd suggest uninstalling PD14 and let it also uninstall QuickTime and SmartSound, if you are prompted to.

Reinstall PD14, run the QT updater if you let PD14 uninstall it, and then download and apply the v2302 patch from the forum's PD14 index page.

Please post back with what you find.
