Hi Guys:

I have PD 13. I'm slowly learning how to put together a slideshow. I've watch several tutorials on subtitles but haven't found the answer.

Is there a way to have a subtitle transition so it doesn't just appear and stay motionless? I'd like the titles to slowly sweep in or appear as if the title is being quickly typed. Actually any kind of motion or transition to make them less boring!

Thanks.

Might be a terminology issue. Subtitles, from the PD "Subtitle Room (F12)", have rather rigid editing features for them. Titles, from the PD "Title Room (F7)", can be rather flexible. Starting effects, ending effects, transparency, keyframes, on and on. One can position a “Title” near the bottom of a frame so it looks like a "Subtitle" but it will not have typical movie playback subtitle features.

Jeff has hit the 'nail on the head' Douglas. Look into Title Designer and Title Room and do a YouTube search on Title Designer. Should help you with more options dealing with text overlaying video.

As Jeff mentioned, there is sometimes confusion when people refer to subtitles.

Sometimes, they actually do mean "subtitles" (aka Closed Captioning) which are the words that appear at the bottom of a video that display the dialog, sometimes in a second language. Those subtitles actually have a dedicated track and AV equipment can turn that on or off as desired by the end user. There is no ability to fade or change color or affect any part of subtitles other than the content itself and when it appears.

Other times, as is the case here, the "subtitles" you're looking for are actually titles, and you have free reign over all aspects: font, color, on-screen location, transitions, fades, motion, etc.

While titles and subtitles can perform similar functions, remember that if you're not looking at providing a CC service, you're actually talking about titles. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the responses. It was a terminology issue and thanks to you I figured out how to use Titles to label the photos.
