Can one upgrade from Power Director 10 to 14...or must one purchase versions 11, 12, and 13 to accomplish?

You can do it in one step. The Cyberlink website will give you an upgrade discount so you won't have to pay the full retail price for PD14

IF I purchase the "box"" version of PowerDirector 14 that I expect would include the install DVD, why do I need to order a backup DVD. At checkout I indicate that I want the "box" version I am given a choice of paying for Backup DVD's or an option of 12 months to download PD14 for a re-install. Why do I need a backup DVD?

I have never checked extended download service or backup disc. Make my own backup.

Yes. You don't need to make it an ISO or boot from the disc.

RE: Just copy all downloaded files to blank dvd/cd?

I was at Geek Squad a few weeks ago and they called my recovery CD's" old techoledgy"

I keep all my downloads of PD on USB (2 different ones) as well as other programs I've downloaded.

Right. It doesn't matter where you keep the installation and content pack files just as long as they're accessible in case something fails on your current system or storage drive.

CDs, DVD, Blu-Ray discs, external drives, thumb drives, the cloud - all are good places for backups like this. The only thing that matters is that you'll be able to retrieve the files at a later date.

I know this post is four years old but I was looking for discount on PD15 and got from http://www.mrbargainer.com/coupon/cyberlink-powerdvd-15-ultra-coupon-code/. Did I get a good deal or is there any better option in Cyberlink website. TotalSystemCare - Software to Care for your PC
