PD14 (&13) objects not staying grouped

HI all,

While the title is referring to grouped objects , I did have a couple other questions to throw out there in this post.

I have upgraded to PD14 and have noticed an issue that has bothered me for some time that still remains. While spending much time synching up my video and music then grouping them to prevent that time from being wasted, they somehow end up being out of synch later but yet still show that they're grouped. If they're still grouped together they should be moved "as one unit" and therefore, not be out of synch. Am I missing something with the "group objects" command?

Secondly, while working in the standard timeline and trying to use my synch audio tools, I've yet to get the program to work properly. THis goes back to the past year while using PD13 also. I simply click on both clips and hit the synch audio button and most of the time it just puts one clip behind the other. Now in PD's defense, these clips have all been with a fairly high degree of background noise, but still not ALL. So this ties in with my first question because I'm spending considerable time synching up 2 separate clips manually.

Finally, this is not a concern or issue but thought I would ask here. Is there any way or anywhere to get additional 3rd party trackers to use in the motion tracker? I've been using this and its a great feature but it seems extremely limited with the options we're given.

Thanks in advance,

T

Hello Tarkus,

I think your problem is about the same as discussed under 'Viedo audio goes out of sync da jeg change duration of still images'.

try to see *here* it might give you hint on how to avoid the problem.

I have witnessed PD14 occasionally unlink video and audio at times for no apparent reason depending on what functions one happens to be doing. The more complex an edit line is the more likely unwanted linking, grouping and syncing errors seem to happen. The strange thing is that duplicating the problem is usually impossible. Predicting it is even harder.

I simply call it poor housekeeping by PD. Win 10, i7

After reading my post again, it seems I may have misworded this a bit. While it is unsynchronizing things, it's not the audio and video from the same foortage. As an example, I recorded some footage from my gopro camera on a roller coaster then later added my own music to it. The music was carefully synchronized with the clip and when finally finished, I grouped these together. This is a music track that was added as a separate entity to the video shot from the gopro and NOT the included audio track captured by the gopro cam. Anyway, since these two are now grouped I thought they would stay synchronized for good. This is where the problem is. I spent time working on other aspects of the project and when I returned to this section, the music I added and the original footage were no longer synchronized ALTHOUGH they were still grouped together.

I have been very careful above in my use of the words "synchronized" and "grouped".

I can verify that this does happen. I do not know why and it is frustrating. I've been using MP4 video clips with mp3 audio added in. Win 10, i7

Thanks HD, and frustrating is an understatement. I've lost so much time having to go back and manually synchronize some music to the video as well as 2 videos shot with 2 different cams. Going back to my roller coaster example, I actually did use 2 cams for side by side footage. A friend of mine was using the 2nd gopro sitting next to me. So as you can imagine, having to go back and manually synchronize the coaster video footage as well as audio is quite discouraging.
