So maybe someone can help me how can make this proccess quicker.

My problem is I have one movie, PD (12 platinum) I dont know how to quick move around the movie. So I use VLC for time code of scenes a note tham down - for ex 12.

Now pls correct me but the only way how add this times and crop selected scenes is to add timeline marks than split (twice start and end) and after all done move selected ones to the new layer (and this is just a raw cut dont want to start talkin what pain is to cut from selected frame - actully select that frame) mention that I want the names for the scenes so I have to go to menu change alieas fill it and then when I hit enter nothing happens so I have to click OK!

So Is any option to say PD cut/copy from time this to this and move it to the another layer?

I tried another solution but the result for effort was the same or worst, I mark scene between selected marks - copy and than only option I have left was to put this at the start of the movie on the same layer witch results to moving whole movie to the right so another time marks was useless. Why cant I just paste to another layer? Maybe I´m missing smthg.

PD is about editing right? I dont want any fancy stuff but I assume this as basic editing witch is really driving me mad, its basic so it should be simple. And cut the precise frame - well thats another whole story.

I bought smthg from SONY so lest see how they deal with basic croping cuting pasting layers

sorry for long post

I'm not sure I fully understand what you are trying to do but if you are saying that you have a single long clip in the timeline from which you want to extract sections then Power Director's Multi-trim function is provided to do that.

However I find using the trim functions quite clunky and personally use a little utility called PDSpeed which translates individual keyboard key presses into Power Director commands and allows editing directly from the timeline. The original version was compiled for PD9 but this may not work fully with PD12. I know there is a modified version for PD13 and there may be one for PD12. Maybe one of the other contributors here will know.

Once I'd learnt the most-used commands I found PDSpeed transformed the editing experience for me.

Hi, Mike!

I tend to use a lot of keyboard shortcuts myself when editing, saves me a bit of time and wear & tear on the mouse(as long as I don't feed him the wrong type of cheese - ha-ha). There are some actions, though, that do require a few mouse movements but mostly I get by with the keyboard shortcuts. Still looking forward to getting my PD14 Ultra!

Cheers!

Neil.

Sorry for late reply. I am glad this forum is alive. I definitly try multitrim vs pdspeed and see if I accoumplish my task fast and well.

Mike thx for reply, you understand it well, signle long clip from wich I need only selected scenes. And if multi trim vs pdspeed handle cuts on exact frame, then my time-work on cut will reduce bout 50%, we´ll see.

thx

Well now thats another cup of coffee. Most shortcuts from Peter doesn work anymore (PD12) but some do and with the ones provided by PD its great.

My system now is FF or seek by minute, than second, than fram, press S (thx peter), move few frames forward another S.

All this in timeline in movie mode.

The only things I miss in this system is change seek by unit shortcut, thats only one I have to do with mouse.

Hi JK,

Depending on how good you are with coding you could produce your own modified version of PDSpeed. I downloaded the free AutoHotKey compiler and made my own version for PD13 then later noticed that someone else on the forum had obviously done the same, see here.

Don't ask me how I did it, though, my short-term memory's not that good these days . I just looked in the PD13 manual at the list of shortcut keys, worked out what had changed since PD9 and then modified the script to suit.

I would imagine there might not be much difference between PD12 and PD13, probably less than from PD9 to PD12.
