Got a new Dell workstation/desktop and it came with Cyberlink media suit essentials. That came with Power Director 12 which when I try to use, it does not recognize starded video files. I tried to import and MVI vido file and the procram did not "see" the video file in the folder where I stored it. I then try to import an MOV file, again the PD 12 program does not see the video file. It's Power Director LE 12.0.0.4111.

It does sound like that QuickTime is missing in your new pc since it is required for mov files. If the player is installed, then check the version and update it to see if it helps.

I'll wager the Media Suite is full of "crippled" LE versions.

On the internet... The only limitation of this edition is that it doesn’t support Blu-ray, 3D, AVCHD, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MKV, FLV, or 4K formats.

I cannot find a proper full description of PD12-LE.

LE pretty limited. See attached table. It's free features on your new Dell are good to edit, well, nothing!

I installed Quicktime pro and it's the latest version. It works fine with Sony MM 13 Platium and with AVS editor. Guess this version of PD is garbage. I tried to use my download disk to install my version of PD 11 but it will not install.

Hi, emmettfitz8394! Methinks you may have a bare-bones version of PD12 there. Sometimes "packages" come with bare-bones versions of software, just like some video capture card devices do(for VHS or Beta videotape to DVD conversion) as they expect the user to do "basic" video capture and edit, so all the "features" are disabled until you lay out the moolah to buy the "full" version, which you then install, aver having uninstalled the bare-bones version first.

Cheers for now!

Neil.
