I know that this is not exactly correct place for this question, but I did not find better.

What is the best way to upload vids to Youtube. I have used ".m2ts" like in this video I made few weeks ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwjppUoozUU .

But now I'm trying to upload similar vid ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBtv28oOmx0 ), but now moving object are "jerky or choppy" as you see @ 0:24-0:29 and 1:01-1:06 . I used same m2ts and this runs smoothly in PC, but YT spoils it. Misc vids, http://www.youtube.com/zuiker1974

BeetleSick74 I watch both videos at 1080P50. I see a little up and down movement. Not what I would call "jerky or choppy". I just thought the up and down movement was you holding the camera and walking with a Steadicam. Intel i7 5960X overclock to 4 Ghz 16 GB of ram.

Hi BeetleSick74 -

You would have seen the guide on YouTube *Recommended Upload Encoding Settings (Advanced)*, I guess.

It's really a matter of experimenting to find the right format/resolution/bitrate balance. We've all had videos that look & sound just as we'd like straight out of PDR - but then there's YT's processing & how well it streams.

Basics - H.264 - progressive - "modest" bitrates & you can't go too far wrong.

Cheers - Tony

I have read that guide. I have used much higher bitrates...
This runs fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYJ7KdV_DL8 (mp4), but I don't like softness of certain parts. Like @ 0:43 vs. same video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYJ7KdV_DL8 at higher bitrate (m2ts) Misc vids, http://www.youtube.com/zuiker1974

You should render your video with the same bitrate as your camera clips and save the produced video on your pc. Go to YouTube and let YouTube upload the file from there. I have ranted about this as late as today on my YouTube site (Anders Bixbe). Watch the 2 versions of "Windy October". Watch with YouTubes own Google Chrome vp9 codec and see the ethernet speed bitrate on the rightclicked "nerd statistics". With Chrome you will get 1080/50-60p if that is what you rendered in. No stuttering, perfectly smooth. Vp9 is always for UHD 4K but one gets vp9 sometimes even for 1080/50p and the quality can be great even at lower streaming bitrates depending not only on internet traffic but also which server beeing active.

And again ....
I used Youtube uploader (wmv) with this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMVdcUiwTxY
It runs smooth, but quality is not as good again.

This is coded much higher bitrate, but it is not smooth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzLhcJ0KsVc
Yes it is 60p and material is 50p, but 60p is still bit smoother.

How the h..l people make vids run as smooth as this.

Bit frustrated...

Hi BeetleSick74 -

Encoding video to the ideal format & profile is a complex thing because there are so many variables. When you start uploading to YouTube (or othjer sites) it gets even more complicated. What you upload gets processed by YT. Unavoidable fact.

Here's an interesting study about Encoding for YouTube to get the best results There's an add-on at the end of the article by one of Google's video "hackers" - worth reading!

The first video link you posted - https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=ZZuXSCDkR6s - is set to Private, even when you use the corrected link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZuXSCDkR6s Setting it to Unlisted will work.

I have no real understanding of the way YT processes video, nor any way of knowing what profiles are used to do this. That GoPro video you linked - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2liYwCFTgr4 - as far as I can determine what you're viewing is a 1080p 30fps video @ ~3.5Mbps. I got that by downloading the video from the *URL* where it's actually stored...

Sorry - no magic answers.

Cheers - Tony
