PD9 is 5 years old now, but all the basic things that are in your version are in the newer versions, too. If you look at the tutorials videos for keyframes, which is one of the main ways to move text or other objects, the method is the same no matter which version was used in the turorial.
That's not going to help much if you can't keep PD open long enough to use it, and more than half of the problems I've seen on the forum are with peoples' computers, not with PD.
