I am creating a machine for video editing and want to use the most stable drivers. AMD has had some compatibility issues with drivers and video editing apps, so wanted to get community input here on best version of driver.

I know I saw over at Vegas forums that folks are sticking with 13.12 version. But others use 14.12 as these happen to support Open CL 2.0 and are supposedly the most tested of all AMD driver releases.

Anyone, what versions are you using? Win 7 64, GA-X79-UD5, Core i7-4930K CPU @ 4GHz, AMD 7790 (planned with 13.12 driver), 16Gb DDR3 1600, 256GB Samsung 830 SSD, LG BluRay Writer

AMD Catalyst 14.12. The later versions have problems that have not been solved.

I did have a problem with the AMD driver. AMD OverDrive got turned on and caused the computer to reboot unexpectedly. After I turned off Overdrive everything works normal.

Thanks Carl.

I also intend to cleanup some old SD video using Neat Video and it seems to have issues with these drivers. I have an older card 7790 so I am thinking that 13.12 might be the best bet for me.

I know PD has noise cleanup tools but not sure how those would compare to Neat Video.

Neat driver issue with 14.12:

AMD Catalyst Omega (14.12) driver contains a number of errors causing incorrect processing results and even crashes
when running Neat Video on certain models of AMD GPUs. The errors have been reported to AMD and will hopefully be fixed in a future version of the driver. At this moment the best known workaround is to downgrade the driver to Catalyst 14.9.(The most recent build of Neat Video may be able to work correctly with some AMD GPUs using Catalyst 14.12, although at a lower speed.)Update: Catalyst 15.4 beta also contains the same errors as 14.12, those have not been fixed yet.Update: Catalyst 15.7 fixes some of the bugs but also contains new bugs. We do not recommend to install this version of Catalyst.

For anyone wanting to help let an AMD user like me know what the most stable version of drivers you found for PD, then please post over here only at this more relevant *thread* on this topic. Thanks! Just sell your card on eBay and get a new video card - nVidia GTX960 is what all you need for video editing because of their updated video decoder/encoder.

I had an ATI video card Radeon 7970 and altough was great in games, I got tired of issues in video editing.

In my opinion and the practice in PD13, and using AMD HD 6750 card and now R9 270x amd-catalyst-omega-14.12, works seamlessly with HA (on or off)

For the last amd-catalyst-15.7.1, we work but we do not have HA in PD13.

Cyberlink hope that the update addressing this issue.

PD14 (HA) works well, with amd-catalyst-15.7.1

In my case I'm using amd-catalyst-15.7.1 because HA is slower than the CPU (8 core) when the video rendering.

This PC, the signature. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3
SSD SUV400S37240G / 2-HD WD 1TB
AMD Radeon R9 270 / AOC M2470SWD
Windows 7-64 / PD16 Ultimate
